it's hard to say...

The front is rather thick since it is padded...but it is also lightweight at the same time.
You could call it bulky I guess, but since I'm using it as protection it needs to be. I can't really give you a gsm here...it isn't all "hard" material...

One more thing I could add to the negative aspects of the book-cover...the "rubber" that hold the Iliad stinks...I hope that smell will get better with time...it's a rather aggressive smell, very chemical...:-)

I have no problem with that one . I think the rubber fittings are perfect and I observe only a hint of rubber smell when putting my nose close to it.

The shiny appearance of front and back cover is a small issue I have hard time to get used to. I argree also that the front and back cover should be more rigid. In my opinion they are a little too flexible with the present design.

Would be intresting to hear commets about the irex covers, if anybody has received them yet.

I went to order the deluxe case for $64.57 USD but when they wanted me to pay $40 USD to ship it... the "ouch!" kept my finger from making contact with the mouse button to actually place the order.

I checked their US partner site but they don't seem to have the covers yet and their shipping prices are similarly so high that it seems like they're drop shipping from Germany as well.

iRex might also want to work with their web host to fix this error: http://irexshop.com.

Scotty1024,

Did you see the Sedia Cushion Case on eReader Outfitters?

It appears to be only a case for protecting the reader when carrying / storing it. Not sure it fits your requirements, but there it is...

I have one of The Pouches for my iLiad right now but I have to carry it in my Macbook Pro's Brenthaven bag to give it full protection: face in towards the notebook carry sleeve.

I re-thought the 4mm polystyrene protective plate, realized no one else has that, and hit the order button: $104! They should throw in an extra power brick for that price... :-(

Pix/review when it gets here.

Well still no sign of life on the case...

The other good stab I got today was the posting on the iRex forum were they admit that their shipping charge is based on shipping an iLIad, even if they aren't shipping you an iLiad! I guess they just, well, um, pocket the difference in shipping charges?

You'd think that for the extra profit they could at least ship it faster than they ship an iLiad.

What would be really good is some nice firmware upgrades so that I can have a fully functional device that I already have in a cover! Bookmarks in PDF's! (As promised)

I guess my cynicism, pessimism and lack of patience are beginning to show. Maybe I have to go off to the meditation thread.

Time to write a country western ballad about iRex I guess....

Title: Been Busy workin' on Sony Readers these days.

My page bar is flakey and I can't trust iRex to fix it and pay for shipping 'cause they still ain't paid for shippin' the last two times.

My cover still ain't shippin' and even if it did all I'd do is leave it on the shelf with my busted iLiad in it.

Code:
12/20/2006	Order not comfirmed	Hopefully this won't take a month to get...
12/20/2006	Order comfirmed, processing
Review if I ever get it.

For anyone looking for an M-Edge iLiad book cover, please give me a shout. (Click on my name, then on "send a private message".) I still have one unused which I will pass on for a very fair price. If noone's interested I'll put it on e-Bay this weekend.

I'll send my M-Edge Iliad book cover to any place in Europe at a little higher cost than shipping cost (PayPal payment). Send a private message if you are intrested.

Lower cost Irex cover

Here are some pictures of the lower cost Irex cover.

+ Fit is pretty good
+ Front plate is rigid and offers good protection of the screen
+/- looks cheap/not likely to attrackt thiefs
- very little protection of the two outer edges of the device

All over I'd say the function of the cover is ok. For its looks I wouldn't give many points.

The M Edge products are great, I evaluated several models from there this week. The iLiad needs protection from getting squished, or twisted. There is a glass layer in the display and it can break. The iLiad Deluxe cover is indeed an executive case worthy of the notable price point. The standard iLiad cover looks much better in person than pictured on iRexShop.com. I've been using the Sedia cushion case for months. They are lightweight, and inexpensive.
