So, I got this idea of screwing an eyebolt into the wall, and then hooking a bungie into it, wrapping around the door, and then back to the eyebolt. Because the pressure will be up and down on the bolt, it shouldn't tend to pull it out of the wall (of course if I can find two convenient studs -- and I don't mean of the male persuasion -- I mean wooden ones, that won't be a problem). I finished painting the pantry. Now I'm trying to get everything organized, and I've been doing a lot of laundry (as I pack away all of my winter clothing), so this door thing has been driving me bonkers. |

So glad to hear you won't be jumping from a bungie, Ricky.

Me too, I have a rather healthy fear of jumping off of high places. And, knowing myself (as I do so well), the story would have been about how the stupid bungie cord broke and I broke at least twelve bones, but miraculously survived the 500 foot drop .... and blah, blah, blah.

Getting ready to go into town to get my repaired lawnmower and have some lunch. They damn near killed me at Wendy's yesterday .... someone stuck a slice of tomato in my burger, which I didn't notice until I had bitten into it, which made my soft palate swell up, which made me cough up the bite I took (made quite a scene of myself .... I must say).
Popped myself with my epi pen, tossed the remainder of the burger on the counter and gave them the evil eye. I was NOT pleased. And, the additional meds I took when I got home put me out of commission for most of the afternoon. Reminder to self: Check the damn burger BEFORE you eat it. (I can be such a total moron.) |

I'm supposed to be cooking tea, but have gone on strike. I've done lots of cooking recently and the deal I have with my housemate is that if one of us cooks the other one does the washing up. Yesterday I had to do some washing up so that I had the things I needed to cook the tea, and my housemate was supposed to do the rest of the washing up afterwards. Got up this morning and none of it had been done. So no more cooking until the washing up is done (apart from anything else I need the wok to cook the tea today).
So instead I'm listening to the radio and catching up here while my housemate works out how many hard drives he needs to buy. He's been there an hour so far and no sign of any progress ![]() |

![]() To be fair to your son, it's supposed to be more hygienic to allow the washing up to dry without using a cloth, but it still needs to be put away! (And I promise not to tell him that ![]() |

Kai Lung's Golden Hours The Wallet of Kai Lung because these are also out of copyright in the US, and have been digitised by Project Gutenberg. There are five other books containing Kai Lung stories (or in one case, a novel told by Kai Lung): Kai Lung Unrolls His Mat The Moon of Much Gladness (aka The Return of Kai Lung) Kai Lung Beneath the Mulberry Tree The Specimen Case (contains one Kai Lung story among others) Kai Lung Six - a collection of six uncollected Kai Lung Stories that appeared in Punch in 1940 and 1941. As far as I can find, none of these have been digitised by anyone. (If they have - I'd be pleased to receive a copy - it will save me doing the scanning/OCR) The book I'm working on (untitled at present) will contain the six stories from Kai Lung Six, the story from The Specimen Case, and four previous uncollected or unpublished stories. I've just been working on it again tonight - first mechanical run through correcting easy mistakes - OCR spellings, quote marks, etc. Next is a proper read-though to catch less easy mistakes. In the UK and other +70 countries, the Kai Lung stories are still in copyright until 1 Jan 2013. The four unpublished stories will be in UK copyright for 25 years after publication. Once this volume is out, I hope to come to an agreement with the copyright holder to produce editions of the first five books too. |

Trying to get back in the swing of classes. This 8 week term is Speech; and Pharmacology and Physiology. The one I'm dreading is Speech, as it turns out two of the speeches must be video recorded and submitted. I sincerely hope our webcam has record capability, or I'm going to be out a LOT of money renting a digital camcorder. The P & P class looks fun, or at least not boring, though there is a lot of writing involved.

It's been pretty much the same damn order for four and a half years now, to wit: 1. One Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger with nothing but lettuce; 2. One small order of fries, light on the salt; 3. One large chocolate frosty and one chocolate milk (the latter is poured up to the red line in a large shake glass, while the former is added to the top, and then put on the shake stirrer) -- much better than the standard chocolate shake they make there. Picked up the lawnmower (they couldn't find anything wrong with it .... apparently sometimes the motors just "freeze up" for no particular reason). Makes me feel better because I couldn't find anything wrong with it either, but it just wasn't working. Came home and mowed the front lawn (yes, it was a nice sunny 102 degrees out, but I just felt like mowing the damned lawn). Collapsed in a sweaty mass on the bed and took a short nap. Now, I'm about to start some more work. Then tonight, .... well, I have no idea what's going on tonight. Probably just read some more in my latest Pratchett book. |
