the squid has a recurring contract and therefore cannot be eaten nor come to any harm at all in fact, even if the plot devices necessary to save him are completely outlandish.

But can't the squid spontaneously regenerate? I believe it told me so and gave me its blessings. You would not want its last wish to be ignored, would you?

I knew of a guy who was working at an eye-care clinic, and backed into lens grinding machine.
