I don't know - I only have the omnibus. ePub seems to be the best format in terms of quality of the illustrations.

Since susan_cassidy (see earlier thread) had not posted on getting an answer from Amazon Kindle Support, I emailed them yesterday morning:

1. I thanked them profusely for supplying new corrected editions of H2G2 and The Stand - automatically & with no hassle. (Good cop).

2. Then I asked them nicely when buyers of the older version of LOTR & The Hobbit with the known (and now corrected) formatting problems would receive their new copies.

And although the contact page boasts that most emails are answered in less than 12 hours, I too have received no answer. Not even the standard form letter saying "Thank you for contacting Amazon support, blah, blah, blah."

If I receive no answer today, I plan on sending a daily email until I get some response. I suggest everybody that needs a new version start emailing too.

I hesistate to call b/c I really don't deal well with idiots on the phone, and recently reports in this (and other forums) have increasingly reported phone conversations with support people who weren't very supportive.

I have a fully "hand proofed" version, which took me months to create. Guess I'll stick with that rather than re-downloading from FW.

I haven't gotten an answer back yet, which is unusual. Usually, I get a response back from support more quickly than this. Maybe (I hope) because I asked what the policy is, they had to escalate my question to a higher authority??

This is weird - b/c I didn't get any answer yet to an individual question - not even a "Thank you for writing - we'll get back ..."
I don't want to over-react or over-think this, but if they pushed out H2G2 and The Stand - I don't think we're asking for too much here.

While I applaud Amazon's move with H2G2 and The Stand, it drives me crazy that you can't get a simple answer to a simple question.

poohbear: are you sending questions to Kindle Support, or to the kindle-feedback@amazon.com email address? I've read about people sending feedback, and expecting answers, which I would not expect. But, support is usually very good. They may be a bit swamped right now, with all the new DX owners.

I sent it to Kindle Support - using the "Contact Us" button on the Kindle Support page.

Maybe they're sold out for 4-6 weeks - like the DX!

Just for information, I purchased the LOTR trilogy for the Kindle from Amazon a couple of weeks ago. I have been very happy with the quality. I have not noticed any typos. I haven't read all of The Two Towers, but certainly there are no obvious problems, like Dunedain missing letters etc.

HarryT did a huge amount of work to get the first version corrected for himself. If you PM him he might be able to help. I have the BoB version - the second version was a big improvement.

thanks for the pics. I was tempted to buy it, but I think I will stick with paperback for now. Some fond memories there.
