Don't forget that if you are not on a windows-PC, the Sony software will not run.

Good breakdown. To the K2 list, I would add search. You can search your content and the Kindle store as well as Wikipedia and the Web in general. General Web access is considered "experimental" so they don't guarantee that they will always offer it or that it will always be free. Web surfing on eInk is also a bit frustrating due to the slow refresh. They have promised to retain free access to the store, your purchased content and Wikipedia (which is formatted quite nicely on the Kindle).

I have been very happy with the 505. I seriously considered the Kindle, and I think I even had it in my shopping cart ready to order, but in the end, the 505 won. I decided that for the price I couldn't see spending that extra $100 on features I probably wouldn't use. I have not missed the whispernet (one of the only things I liked about the kindle), dictionary support, etc. The 505 is no more difficult than the Kindle, and I like the fact that I'm not locked down to one store for DRM'ED content. Notice I said DRM'ED. I don't care to learn how to convert, format-shift, de-drm, etc. The less complicated it is, the better. I want to just put my books on my 505 and start reading.

I think the cheaper price of Amazon books and the dictionary was enough to push me towards the Kindle.
But, yeah as mentioned it depends upon the kinds of material you like to read. If you like reading the latest bestseller, Kindle will be cheaper usually. If you use the library often, perhaps the Sony will be a better match. |

I will come right out and admit right here that before I used it I thought the dictionary feature was stupid. Now it's the feature I use the most. I guess my vocabulary isn't that great after all.

Glad you said clothing rather than back pocket. I have the light wedge cover (it looks and feel nicer than the ordinary one) and it fits into any coat pocket easily.
If you stripped the cover it might just fit inot a back trouser pocket, but I doubt it. Basically anywhere you can fit a paperback you can fit the 505 in it's cover - and with the cover on the screen protection is just fine. |

Maybe the back pockets on men's trousers are a lot larger, but there's no way I could get a paperback or a 505 in mine. I don't think a Jetbook would fit either.

![]() Sure I'll post a pic... I don't think the younger folk with their skinny jeans will have much room. But I wear slacks and relax fit jeans so they have larger size pockets. |

Edit: Oh I forgot to explain the Image. Left picture one is the Sliver SONY-505 in view (Glare of the flash makes it hard to see the eBook reader) Right picture is with my shirt covering/hiding the reader =X= Last edited by =X=; 06-25-2009 at 07:09 PM. Reason: Edit added image descriptions |

The kindle store and the wireless are the main sellers. Being able to jsut grab the book you want without going through another device is what really makes it. I've tried out both and I'd definitely go with the kindle.
