It worked fine, BTW (and I'm glad in retrospect that I answered with option 'A').

A lot of times the problem is that they have to realize the former, and know how to do the latter. Those are rarer commodities than they ought to be.

That was one of the mantras we learned at my university's computer help desk. Of course, we were actually concerned about quality.

At some point, I think you have to accept that it's okay to be chronically wrong to come to the point where you just say anything. But it's denial. "Where's the bread?" "Oh, it's on aisle 8." To self: "I don't know where it is, but I have satisfied myself and my customer by offering an answer and that's great work. Kudos to me."

So, you're saying all politicians start as pathologically lying retailers? :smirk: Hmm... Sounds like a good bone to throw to our conspiracy theorists. Here's another:

"E-Ink reveals their technology was not developed independently, but instead stolen from Area 51's alien cache."

Hmm, no, I don't buy that one, it'd be much more advanced if we'd swiped it from aliens ... unless ... they've deliberately downgraded the tech before releasing it. Those sneaky rascals.

Well I don't know from alien technology but the drought of Readers seems to be over.

The downtown Seattle Borders had a full Sony Retail Kiosk and when I asked for another reader Christmas eve they went in back to get one rather than unlock the kiosk...

I got mine from the Borders store in Glendale, California (corner of Brand & Broadway) at the end of November. I believe it was the last one then, but since they sell it there, I'm sure they got more stock by now.

Update: I went there today, and they now even have a stand with a still functioning, yet rather grimy display unit. The case underneath had 2 Readers left, and they had all the various covers, and $25 giftcards, available on the side.

Border's Books located in the Santana Row shopping center in San Jose, CA, has a display of Readers. In addition to selling readers, the display also carries gift cards to the Connect store, as well as the colored covers and the base.

Ditto the Boarders in Westchester, (LA) CA -- the one at the Howard Hughes center. I bought mine there Friday and they still had a stack of them, covers, cradles and gift cards.

FYI for those in Cary, NC - the only Borders that carries them here is the one at RDU airport... bummer.

I bought mine at the Borders in Nashville, TN and they had 3-4 left after I got mine with plenty of cradles and covers left.

I finally got out to the Sony Store in Tysons Corner, VA, and had my first chance to check out the eReader. A bit smaller than I expected, but in a good way, and the screen looked more than clear and readable enough.

But alas, it didn't work. The salesman said, "Sorry," and walked away.

I did, too.
