Oh, sorry .... SORRY .... that was a true story out of my ancient history. I guess I should have mentioned that. It was around 1990 when it happened.

Yes, they finally pulled me out from under the car, I stood up, did a quick triage, and the only damages were a skinned knee and ripped nylon (from when I fell) and a tire track across my butt (really showed up nicely on the black skirt, I might add).

I was on my way to a computer trade show (for the law firm at which I was an associate). Went to the trade show (cleaned up a bit in the bathroom at the Convention Center), and then went back to the firm.

Typically, when I told people there about what happened, they asked me if I'd gotten the driver's license and insurance information. I kept telling them I wasn't HURT, skinned knee, small dry cleaning bill, new pantyhose max less than $10 (back then).

They kept insisting that I might have dire internal injuries, mental anguish!! I'm a transactional attorney .... it takes a whole lot of something more than a skinned knee to push me over that edge.

I think that's why she rescues cats. When she rescues them they probably no longer need all nine lives they each get, but Ricky does . . . so, in appreciation they donate their extra lives to her.

Sounds like she's going through them at a pretty fast pace too.

:shudders: For some reason, even with the bolded bit, that creeps me out!

Someone needs to write a horror story based on that premise... (Moejoe? )

They sort of already did. Made it into a movie too. Not with the cats donating lives or anything, but I do have friends who swear up and down that the move "Unbreakable" was based on me. I get kidded all the time about how Bruce Willis did such a remarkable acting job portraying me. I'm not sure whether they are trying to say that I "look" like Bruce Willis (in which case, I think they are crazier than your average bed bug), or that they just like Bruce Willis generally (in which case, fine .... so do I).

They sort of did this in one of the Batman movies with Michele Pfeiffer as Catwoman. She fell off a building and the cats she had been feeding kind of brought her back to life.

Well, ok, but if I had tire tracks on my butt, I'd have mental anguish! And I bet you were at least sore the next day.

Sorry, Kaz. You're right. A cat is just another living soul. With beady eyes. And sharp teeth. And a wicked disposition. And evile.

Oh, wait. That's me. Never mind.

Is that how cats come by that aloof, sometimes arrogant reputation? The company they keep? Their owners?
