"Stuff" mag didn't go out of business, they just went online. Just like Dragon/Dungeon mag. With Dragn/Dungn, you can't get paper copies anymore, but you CAN get pdfs monthly. Not sure about Stuff. Their current issues might only be blogs, but you can subscribe to them.

http://stuff.tv/TheMag/

You can also seach Google for more "gadget magazines". Sending them a review unit will definately get exposure. Some people are sticklers for their favorite obscure magazines. The more you can find and reach, the better.

Also, I would consider sending a review sample to some gadgets. Engadget, Gizmodo, Crunch Gear, Gadgettastic, Ubergizmo, TechTreak. There are many others, but I lost those bookmarks long ago.

A 'young padawan" might be an escort...all depends on what kind of 'force' he's attuned.

Dear AJ Starr:

We have tried Sky Mall Magazine (on all aircraft) before with our wireless cameras. The cost is very high and the results never began to make up for the expense. It may be different with the Pocket PRO as that will capture attention and is ideal for airline travel.

Thank you as this is a good thought!

What about this. Granted, you'll have to find an airline willing to try something new.

Have an airline purchase one EZReader for each seat. Install books on them for the passenger to read. (complete gutenburg, google books). Passengers can bring their own SD card and read their own books if they so choose.

The EZReader is tethered to the back of the seat in front of them, so as to help prevent theft. After the flight, they can have surveys to whether the passenger used the reader, and how well they liked it.

If successful, more airlines might set up this program.

Dear Wallcraft:

WOW!! Very useful info. I have gone to Teleread and find them very receptive and open. I am writing to Paulkbiba and I am writing to them about my writing for them as well. I am certainly going to follow up on advertising with them.

We have some great contacts at Google as we are approved for the free google eBook library. I think they will help me on the google advertising.

As always, your info is well thought out, great, and sincerely appreciated!!

Dear Griffonwing:

YOU are absolutely right!! Why not have a tethered program where people can read on the EZ Reader or Pocket PRO or Mentor at their leisure. I do not know who I will reach first but, frankly, IF anybody at the airlines will listen... it would be an incredible program.

Hi RobertB,

No offense intended, but it seems you might want to read your private messages a bit more attentively... I suggested something quite similar more than a week ago... you could already have contacted some airlines since then :-)

Best regards,

Robert

Hi Robert,

Maybe this is too simple and doesn't hit a "new" audience, but I thought I would mention it anyway. I think you deserve a review on the Home page of this very site, mobileread.com. I have seen them post reviews, articles and pictures on several readers, so why not the PocketPro? (If the Kindle rates a review, so does the PocketPro and/or EZ Reader) It might catch people that visit the Home page but don't follow this particular blog.

As I said, it is a simple idea, but even catching one person's interest might make it worth it.

Keeping my thinking cap on,

Hm, that would be the way GM names their billion random models, so that they dilute whatever meager branding cache they have.

I personally like simple, kind of like the German auto-makers do it. Each model tells you what the the class and the engine displacement is. Simple. Informative.

So we can have:

Astak M-9.7A (Astak Mentor 9.7", Revision A)
Astak M-9.7B (Astak Mentor 9.7", Revision B (for the next Mentor 9.7" model))
Astak M-6.0A
Astak ER-6.0
...

If you have different features within the same model line:

Astak M9.7A-WG3 (Astak Mentor 9.7", Revision A, Wi-Fi and G3)
Astak M9.7A-W (Astak Mentor 9.7", Revision A, Wi-Fi)
...

So, you keep your branding ("Astak"), as opposed to teaching us a new word every time you have a new model, and having us use such new word, instead of your brand ("Astak.")

Oh, and it makes it easier to search for a particular model on the web.

Dear Sonist:

You have a good head on your shoulders and I appreciate your comments.

I have seen you on many, many threads.

I do agree that people always shorten things down to Pocket PRO or Intrique instead of "Astak". I am not against what you are saying and will try to shorten things but in the case of the press that talk to us... they focus on model name so far. AND... inside our offices and factory they pay no attention to codes... too difficult to quote model numbers as people are going a mile a minute.

We do use model numbers instead of names on our wireless cameras and that has proven exceedingly confusing even to us and moreso to the end users who buy the wireless cameras. Thus, the latest IP camera is known simly as "The Mole". That name everybody instantly can remember.

I am not arguing, and I thank you for the comments!!

Dear Robvarga:

I do try to deal with every private message and I did read yours and responded. Sorry if it just did not click in my head that day. The problems lately with saying enough and not saying too much are taking a toll on me.

I do appreciate your tip and I will try to contact the airlines.

Cool. So by this nomenclature, I'll be purchasing an

Astak ZR-5 with a 400 cu. 8-valve engine with turbocharge

(EZ Reader Pocket Pro, 5", 400 MHz, 8-lvl grayscale, Epson controller)

NICE!

I think there is a thread about the Pocket Pro that was put on the home page... Hmm... I can't seem to find it... but I thought it was there. (I do see one about Astak and the Hanlin V5.) We will certainly put one on the front page when it is released and available for ordering.

Except it's a "plug-in." :-)

Robert, I don't think it needs to be confusing, if you keep it simple, and follow established methodology. Take a look at how Mercedes and BMW name their models, and it will make sense. It certainly makes sense to their audience.

Or, take a look at Apple:

iPhone 8GB
iPhone 16GB
iPhone 3G 8GB
iPhone 3G 16GB
iPhone 3G S 16GB
iPhone 3G S 32GB

Notice how they don't dilute their branding with random names, but have simple nomenclature, which indicates to any purchaser with an IQ above 50, what model and features they are buying.

Amazon is doing the same with the Kindle.

Of course you know your business best, but different names for each model are a very tough way to establish a brand and name recognition, particularly for a relatively unknown company, with limited advertising resources.

Robert,

in this case you might want to try some names that are indicative of some quality of the product, e.g.

5": EZ Reader Pepper (small but strong)
6": EZ Reader Classic (the original one... maybe this is not that good)
9.7: EZ Reader Jumbo (come on... who told you size does not matter? :-) )
or Ez Reader Chili: (this is really hot...)

Of course this is just some illustration of what I meant, you shouldn't necessary choose food-related nicknames, probably better nicknames may be chosen... but choose something which is easy to remember and relate to and try to choose related names so that they give an impression of a family of model names...

The point is that it should be easy to relate the nickname to the product... I think, it is really hard to relate names like Intrique (or Intrigue, it is even confusing which version you mean) or Invicta or whatever...

Best regards,

Robert
