Oh god, I've got to do another one of these "this is me posts"...
... I hate these, I really do!
Ok - this is going to descend into random babbling and insane crap as I try to come up with something sensible to say about me. I'm the quiet, shy one who normally lurks in shadows, and I hate talking about myself, and I never really know what to say. Let me see - we'll skip the "reading" part for now and come back to that one, because I think an interest in reading is necessary for this sort of forum - so if you're interested in that bit, skip to the end and I'll prolly make it the last or second last paragraphs. Or something like that. Hi, My name is DJ Pooka. Well, it's not, I've got a real name, but too many years on these intertubesthing has instilled a liking of my invented persona, and a dislike of the real person who I am. I have a real name, but I only use it at work - everywhere else, I'm just Pooka. The DJ bit is because that's my other major hobby of choice. I should probably change that since my record decks sit idle, and my record collection is split into more crates than I can comfortably count between many rooms in the house. Apart from the DJing, I'm slowly learning how to do "proper" photography. I say proper, because I've been a photographer for lotsofyears, but it's been club photography and nothing else. I spent too much money on a camera, and suddenly discovered I don't have a clue how to use the damn thing! So, most weekends and a lot of evenings I can be found wandering the local area with my camera, taking silly photos of anything that catches my eye. Still got a lot to learn on that front, but you know, time is severel limited with this horrid "work" thing that I need to do to feed my hobby collection. Where was I? Oh yes, still doing that intro thing. What else can I say about me? Right - other hobbies. That's normally a good thing to do. I'm an avid gamer, either on the 'puter (commonly found playing Neverwinter Nights), on the XBox (last seen playing a fake plastic guitar and pretending to be a rock god in RockBand, or wandering around a post-apocalyptic-nuclear-wasteland-'Merka in Fallout 3), or even on a lot of sundays down the local pub getting drunk and loosing at a large collection of board games. Ok - that's hobbies out the way. Other stuff which makes me seem like a real person and not a figment of your imagination. Erm.... In the real, monday to friday office world I'm a techie of sorts. I don't repair pcs and that, but I deal with a lot of things like network access and network resources for a major company (not saying who, I gotta have some privacy ![]() The sad extra stuff that's always worth knowing - I'm from the UK, and I still live at home with my parents. No partner, girlfriend, wife or anything else at the moment that would tell me off for doing silly things like spending lotsofmoney on the camera or the new toy I picked up today. Right - that's all the non-booky stuff - now to the reading bit.... I read. A lot. More than a lot. I've got 5 different fiction books and three course books on the go at the moment and never have any problems keeping track of what is going on in what. I lend out books with no expectations of ever seeing them again, and I will gladly buy multiple copies of the same book to replace copies I've given away (Currently on American Gods copy number 4, and Good Omens copy number 8). Generally I ead for an hour or so when I go to bed just to relax, and I like to curl up with a good book when I get bored. This is where my entry to this site comes in. I'm due to be redecorating my room and everything that was there needs to be taken out so we can paint the walls and re-arrange furniture and stuff. So all the books are going. And there's a lot of them. Since I didn't want to loose any, I've today picked up a new Ebook Reader, and I've run into problems! Thought I'd sign up here and try and get some answers, since I've RTFM'd unsuccessfully, and my google-fu was just as bad, and I thought a dedicated ebook forum would help me answer the questions! I'll find where to ask the question in a few minutes as soon as I've finished my loooooong essay that this seems to have turned into.... So there we go. Another one of these "Look at me, I'm a real person!" threads complete. And if you've survived this far through, you're as mad as I am! |

The PRS manual, like most of them, makes much more sense after you know how to use the device.
Are there particular problems you're having, or just a general "WTF is this and how do I make it work?" |

What is a manual for then? And is that manual in paper form or electronic form? As it is in electronic form, can you actually read it because you must read it before you can use the device which you'll use to read the manual? |

Hello DJ, and
Oh, and that quiet, shy, private kind of "don't like to talk about myself" thing you suffer from ? . . . I wouldn't worry about that. Looks like you've got that problem licked already. See how theropeutic this environment can be? |

Can't find it in the manual? I'd complain to Sony that their manual isn't complete! |

It's in PDF form, available for free download, and one is included in the box with the device. I find it wonderfully informative for figuring out the parts of the Reader that I don't use on a daily basis (the MP3 player, and any screen I don't normally bother with), and pretty much useless for the parts that I constantly use.
