When snowdrops melt away
and daffodils trump out loud; a new spring has begun. When green mist lies low upon ploughed lands, we wait, then, the first swallow to swoop. When skylark soars high, and golden hedgerows blaze; a new spring had begun. When morning mist clears upon warming sun, we wait, then, the cuckoo to call. When goldfinch squabble, and primrose brightly shine; a new spring is well upon. When morning dew sprinkles diamonds, we no longer wait, then, summer’s soon due. |

I’ve delved deep within, to the core of my soul
to find such cherished thoughts, to fill my bowl. With grandiose words, to sustain this harmonic rhyme from first to last; with each to last, through ravages of time. I’ve searched the nerving ways and sparking channels to source the characters I stitch and thread my tapestry of annals. From each and every highway in my essential being ignited and aflamed to burn on page of life with feeling. My muse be love, my craft be plain, my goal indeed be passion. |

Why does it always appear to be raining.
It is surely a travesty of natural law. What does the weather think it is gaining With this endless, mindless, relentless pour? Why does it always rain on our days off. That is surely a travesty of working law. What does the weather think we’re made of With this endless, mindless, relentless pour. Why does the chaos of weather define us. Blinding rain, breath-taking wind and senseless heat. What does it think it is doing, the weather on us. With this endless, mindless, relentless beat. Why does it always win Why does it always win Can’t the lords in the heavens defend us Can’t they help us without any fuss. Butterflies flap their wings in Asia, Monsoons move into Fantasia. Fir cones swell and seaweed drips No one likes soggy fish and chips. |

It must be the living in Scotland that grants the poetic ability and the time to compose it.

I seem to have hijacked
this thread from its original idea, you cad, so I will drag it back kicking and screaming to the challenge idea. I request a poem, per the original guidelines, that includes '...... and (s)he quaffed a refreshing glass of xxxxx ...... ' (replace xxxxx accordingly). |

in her mind she had a plan
if only she could wed a wealthy man. she’d stay at home and have the kids only then to stay off the skids. but he was a wealthy man unbeknown to her, he had a fan a younger model all serene she was all but sweet seventeen. hatched a plan, together they did, went to a shady yard and bid. home they ran and made the tea home he came, and they made three. “this is nice” he said in glee, “you two met, -----please don’t mind while I quietly sweat-----, pray tell me how, I’m sure we have nothing we need to hide” and as he quaffed a refreshing glass of cyanide those girls they laughed went away and packed he lay there all alone no longer able to atone. |

It's 95 degrees and 95% humidity
In Birmingham today. She quaffed a refreshing glass of sweet tea and in the pool did lay. Oh Mercy! It's the vapors! She exclaimed in heated tones. As she dreamed about the pastries and wished for apple scones. With a sputter she awoke and slipped from off the float. She quaffed enough pool water to have carried a small boat. Now do one about mosquitoes! Last edited by DixieGal; 06-16-2009 at 01:54 PM. |

When you pack your picnic lunch
With sandwiches fruit and such Make sure there's cold beer in the bunch And that you don't pack too much But remember this when you pack the chips And bring your bag of Doritos Always bring the Jalepeno dip To keep away the mosquitoes! Use the phrase ...Missed it by that much! |

Lenny, the local pickpocket
has a touch that's as light as can be. He could pinch out the hair from a locket then run away, run away, flee. Finally Pickpocket Lenny was caught by indelicate touch, when he snatched at a purse and let out a curse, and yelled, "Missed it by only that much!" My poems seem to be less poem and more limerick each time. Next someone do one that involves bowling and grilled cheese. |

Do you think Hank started this way?
I am Captain of our bowling team In Wisconsin it's qute a sport It seems the way the bowling pins lean Depend pn your conditon of sorts. If you hae had yourself some cans of beer Of good old MGD They might look less like ten pins standing there and more like flat grilled cheese! Red tomatoes and green beans |

I tried posting this yesterday, but for some reason, I thought it post, but it didn't go through. I'll repost it again.
I decided to write a corny country song. (I hate new country music) I saw her there across the room Dancing with her friend Both in hats and shorts and boots Legs from the floor up to their rear-end! I sauntered on over, said "What up, bee-yutch!" *Slap!* Oooh! Missed it by that much! Stars spinning round mah eyes Headed back to the bar Downed another shot, Then I grabbed my guitar Fingers flying like Clapton and Stevie Vaughn and such *twang-snap* Oooh! Missed it by that much! A cutie at a table started chattin me up a redhead with a cast She's broken her leg on dead man's curve Takin the turn too fast. As we headed to the exit I kicked out her crutch *tumble CRASH thud!" Ooooh! Missed it by that much! Born under a bad sign I don't got the touch My ever-living anthem Missed it by that much If we go on a date It'll always be Dutch I never can score Missed it by that much If my love life was an engine I'd be choking the clutch Revving til the engine blows *Vrooooooooom*BOOOOOOOOM*clink clink* Missed it by that much |

Put your 'maters in a pot,
Then add a few green beans. Throw in some rice, Then add some spice, And call it "Turns Ya Green"! I would like to see a poem that uses the phrase "Tic-Tac of Love" and "tippity-toff" Last edited by Mare of Earth; 06-22-2009 at 03:42 PM. |
