perhaps I'm just daft, but I'm not getting where these are opposite meanings. How can FREE mean "hidden extras"? and how this this be the opposite of "without payment"?

Hint: The word begins with the letter "C".

Ahh, now its understood. But no, this is a dictionary definition opposite, not a "bait-and-switch hidden agenda" opposite.

Starts with "C", and is 6 letters long. 3 consonants 3 vowels.

How about fast though?

Something that is described as 'fast' could be either still (as in stuck fast) or moving quickly - pretty much opposites?

"Fast" in that sense is to be firm or close, and not really a measure of speed. Held Fast = held closely, firmly or tightly. Also, "fast' (as in Held Fast) I believe would be an adverb, as it describes the verb 'to hold'

Good marks, but I'm afraid they aren't quite the opposites.

Actually, the word I was looking for is Cleave.

to divide by a blow; to split; to sever
to stick to; to adhere; to be united closely; to remain faithful (to)

So, Cleave (to split apart) and Cleave (to adhere closely to), identical by name, opposites by nature.

Yeah, it threw me for a loop when I read "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh” (Genesis 2:24 KJV) last Sunday. Actually, I can go back in time. So far, I've just used it to mildy baffle people on internet forums but I can't help thinking there must be other things I could do with my ability...

One of my faveorites lines was from Rich Hall on Q.I. (BBC). Stephen Fry asked what everyones superpowers would be if they could have one. Rich said "I would like to travel ahead in time, but only by two seconds. I could go, " Gesundheit!" and you would sneeze."
