Hm, of all the format LRF gives me the least problems.

One thing I've noticed is Word handles images differently based on how they are inserted to the word document. I've found the best results when I insert an image use the image insert menu option.

Menu option on MS Word 2003
Insert|Picture|From File...

Try this out and let us know how you rared.

OK, so it should work, but something I'm doing is the problem. I'll give that a try when I get home, but as long as I know it should work I can play around with it until I get it working. I'm starting to think the image I've used is too big, so I'll do some trial and error.

Thanks

I have normally found that if an image is too big, it will resize to fit the screen but you may then be left with a blank page following (I have had some nightmare trying to get some images to work for me!)

How are you adding the images? Are you doing an insert? What forat?

Have you tried opening the image in something like Paint and doing a 'select all' then copying and pasting into the Word Document? I've never had a problem with an image when doing it like this.

I have however had some problems just inserting images into Word 97, with placing them being fairly difficult (sometimes they like to take themselves off the page so only the last tiny portion is viewable!)

Before converting, do a Print Preview to ensure you can see everything...

Thanks for the tips.

I used Windows' built-in 'snipping tool' to grab the image and paste it into Word, so it may be in some weird format. When I get home from work I will try making a file with a whole bunch of images in and see which ones work.

I got pictures working!
It seems that Word 2007 outputs webpages in a strange way, which doesn't seem to work well with images. I changed a few Word settings and it now outputs an HTML file that contains the pictures, which Calibre then converts to a perfect LRF file!
I changed the settings to this (all were selected, and I don't know which one fixed the issue, but everything else still works) This is under Web Options:

Glad you got it working. Just for your education. The windows screen capture by default captures images as a bitmap. So when you paste they are pasted as bitmap. The HTML standard only supports, PNG, JPG, GIF, and SGV. Word and IE support bitmaps so they allowed you to past them in. However during the HTML to LRF conversion calibre was probably ignoring the BMP files.

By you checking the "Allow PNG as graphic format" you make Word convert all your images to a supported format. The end result is that they show up in your LRF file.

Hi,

first of all congratulation on a great script!! Nice piece of code!

Now i'm still having some problems working a few of its fonctionabilities, first i want to convert a doc to overfloable txt by paragraphs so it doesn t look like a huge piece of of text.

I'm guessing most of the software works by running macros, so i did run the ebookwrap fix par (guessing its to wrap by pragraphs as i want), but when i use it I get a compilation error staing can't find project or library.

I'm using word 2007, any tips on how to get it to work?

thanks

Hello,

I've tried your script. It's not working for me (XP - Word 2003).

The error message means : Project or document not found

On my machine I've found the vbscript.dll version 5.7.0.18066.

A library names PubX.dll is missing.

@Nordlicht
Thank you for the detail, it makes troubleshooting much easier even if I don't read German.

Anyhow the problem you've listed is a known issue. See the larger banner on the first post (#1 link) for more details.

In short you must either revert back to version (2.5.2)
or
Download ePublisher (link)

@Student1

I suspect you are having the same problem as Nordlicht. Try either reverting back to 2.5.2 or downloading ePublisher.

Hi,

really very very good and great tool. After to have tried many editors, BookCreator it is my favorite! Yes I also edit my self some eBook using pure HTML and CSS and converting by Calibre, but with BookCreator is much simpler and fast one. Simple edit (or import...copy/paste) a MS Word document and: !

Here my small personal experience.

I started with a guide of an italian city: Lucca in Tuscany. Yes, I will make a trip in Lucca tomorrow. I've copy and paste the text and images from:

http://www.accademiadelturismo.com/a...ismo/index.php (all rights property).

Worked in MS Word 2007 and BookCreator and the result LRF file for my Sony PRS 700 is simply: perfect! Only if I try to export in ePub format I got an error in Sony eBook Library. If I import/export it by Calibre: work good with no error. If you are interested, next time I'll post the error.

Why I want tell you my experience? Before buying an eBook reader (and without BookCreator ) I've copied, pasted, edited, and copy..paste and edit again to have a lot of real paper personal guide. Now I save the trees!!!

Finally, thank you =X= I appreciate so much your job.

Does the ePUB work on your 700? If so it might be a SONY eBookLibary bug. None the less post the ePUB here (so long as we are not breaking copyright laws)
Also post the errors reported by the SONY Library.

Hi, I'd love to use this tool correctly but I'm stumped at the moment. Using BC2.6.1, trying to create LRF files from Word 2007 in Vista and keep getting "Compile Error: Can't find project or library" and the VB editor stops at this line

szParam = szParam & " " & "--base-font-size=" & Trim(Str(iBaseFont))

highlighting the Str

Would love some help please!

EDIT: I installed Ebookpublisher, but this has given me a new error popup:

"AnytoHTML: an error has occurred -Command failed"

I'm a bit frustrated! hehe

Note - I can create lrf from within calibre but prefer setting it all up within Word.

It looks like BookCreator is not finding the html2lrf executable. If you did not install calibre in the default pass you need to update the proper path in BookCrearor.

Also what version of calibre are you using? BC 2.6.1 is not compatible with calibre 6.

I'm currently working on a update to BC to work in calibre 6

Hi, the path to Calibre is correct in BC c:\Program Files\calibre\html2lrf.exe and the version of Calibre I am using is 0.5.14.

Still no luck there!

Is BookCreator going to be updated to handle the new Calibre 0.6.0?
