Back from DeKalb. Success! I got yarn for three projects, plus the ribbon I needed to fringe that other scarf. My Trellis yarn came in today too, I've started the shawl with it. The first two rows were the hardest, after that it's just three double crochet, two chain, three double crochet, ad infinitum, decreasing on both ends til you get a point. Basically a granny square except it's a triangle. Then I'll fringe it - though I haven't decided whether to use the black ribbon I got or the yarn I'm making it with. I'm thinking the ribbon, because this yarn, though beautiful, unravels REALLY easily. I see why they call it Trellis yarn - it's two black threads with satin insets of three shades of blue. Interesting to work with, for sure.

I usually don't copy the imbed html codes. I copy a section of the URL after the "=" and before the "&":

That yarn is beautiful! I knit a scarf once in a yarn like that, but the main problem I had with it is that I kept aiming in the holes between the insets! I don't really look when I knit something basic, I usually read, talk or watch tv, so I kept having to stop, unravel a row and restart

The fringe would be gorgeous with the black ribbon, it would frame the blue in a really nice way!

Thanks Veracity! It is beautiful, and it crochets up and feels like spiderwebs and looks like a waterfall. The only problem I'm having with it so far is it wants to curl - I'm hoping when I get enough done the weight will keep it shaped.

AND... I just clicked on my local library overdrive and found out that we now have EPUB! yaaay!! Now I have choices! I'll have to see what kind of collection of EPUB we have...

I'm getting my 8 year old daughter all "Tarted" up for her dance recital practice. It's not bad enough that the costume is "tarty", the dance instructor wants us to put enough make-up on her to rival the best strippers in Verencat's Solid Gold club!

And what's worse, I have to do this all again tomorrow for the actual recital.

As Zelda likes to say, "ppffftt!"

I just finished the shawl! Both neighbor ladies went so nuts over it, I promised one as a Christmas present, and the other neighbor is paying me twenty dollars for one out of the black/silver/white combo I just ordered. She wants it to wear over her "little black dress". It did turn out very nicely... pictures later. When I get a better model for it than me!

I just finished playing some Fallout 3 on the pc. Fellow gamers, don't you wish that there were real skill books that just magically made you better at something just for having read it.

BATUCADAAAAA !!!!!!!!!

yeah baby !!!!!!

it was so brilliant !!! i happened to see the one guy they sent ahead as a scout so i followed him back to the others ; as we arrived they were all milling around converging rather chaotically on an intersection. then there was a gap in the traffic when the light changed and they all rushed into the street and formed into rows, so suddenly it almost seemed like magic.

and then they all started drumming !!!!

when we got to place sainte marthe which is batucada central there was another smaller one in front, and at the end of the evening a third one arrived as well. the biggest one had about 80 drummers !

best night of the year !
