So far no response from Eletroworld after I wrote them back with a corrected description of the problem. It's been more than 24 hours.

My friend soldered the power connector back, and it is working now with a couple of glitches.

For some reason, when I insert the plug, the screen freezes, and I have to reset the unit to get it working again. It's just a minor inconvenience.

The way the power connector is connected to the board is very flimsy indeed. BE CAREFUL WITH IT. It completely broke off. I am surprised that it is not happening to more people.

Now it is not detecting any wireless networks.

I hope everybody else's unit is doing well. Maybe I just got a bad one.

I would be pretty nervous if plugging it in makes the screen freeze... Make sure nothing is shorted and it's grounded right. If something is wrong with the soldering job it might account for your wireless troubles as well. Good luck.

Too late now. It worked after it was soldered, so something must have happened. Eletroworld is not returning my emails either. It's a moot point now since I've voided the warranty by disassembling the unit.
