That's why I have two alarm clocks. I can still make it to 40 minutes snoozing and on more than one occasion slept through the alarm for an hour without using the snooze button, at which point it turned itself off and I continued sleeping.

Sometimes I find it difficult to get to sleep, but once I'm there I want to stay!

the best cure for finding it difficult to get to sleep is to stay up all night.

then once you get home after work/ school/ partying. you see a pillow, you drop like a light. and your up the next morning early.

that ussualy can get me onto a normal sleep cycle (normal for the sun and the stars atleast) for 3 days to a week.

Put both alarm clocks away from the bed - that way you HAVE to get up to turn them off !!!

When I was in the service there were three of us that shared a room, and one of my roommates placed his alarm clock across the room from him so that he would have to get up to turn it off. I also had another roommate that worked the graveyard shift and it pissed him off to no end when he was awoken by our roommates alarm clock after he'd just fallen asleep.

One day the graveyard shift roommate was awoken by the alarm clock, and it just kept blaring and blaring. Finally he got up and went to yell at our other roommate, but nobody else was in the room. The jerk had left early but hadn't reset his alarm clock. So the graveyard shift roommate yanks the alarm clock out of the electric socket, but the damn thing still won't stop blaring. Out of complete frustration he throws the alarm clock onto the floor with great force and pieces of the alarm go flying everywhere -- but it still keeps blaring. It was at this point that he realized it wasn't the alarm clock that was blaring but was our fire alarm.

Argh!! I voted for "under the cat" before I saw the last choice, which is probably closer to the truth.

Ah well. And, it really should be "cats" plural, because, well, what person in their right mind stops at one??

I"ve had dreams like that. No matter how much I tear the thing apart, it keeps blaring.

Then I wake up far enough to realize the REAL alarm is blaring, and I'm supposed to get up. Groannnnn.

According to my cousin, you are not part of the family if you even consider going to bed before about 1 am. When she calls me it is most often early in the evening around 11:30 pm (23:30) to 12:30 am (00:30.) As a former midnight to 6 FM DJ this is not a problem for me.

And people wonder why I don't turn the office phones on until 9 am.

I think I belong in your family. My family practically disowns me. They all get up at or before 7 am. Plus they are a time zone one-hour ahead of me. Sigh.

Most of the time, I can (and frequently do) fall asleep anywhere, in any position, if I am sleepy. I have fallen asleep leaning against a lamp post at a train station (and missed my train). I have fallen asleep on the back seat floor of a car (stretched right across the lump). I have fallen asleep on the sling-trolley in the lower hold of a ship (while I was in the midst of cleaning rust off the inner hull).

As mentioned more than once, I have two speeds (1) squirrel on crack and (2) asleep. No one in or outside of my family has ever been able to deal with that. So many times I crashed in class and just slid out of my desk and on to the floor ... dead to the world. Drove my teachers nuts ... because I always got As and it wasn't like I was disruptive .... but when my body switches off, that's it, I'm gone until I wake up again.

One of the cats managed to tip over a 12 foot step ladder not ten feet from my bed the other night. Slept right through it. Wasn't even on my regular meds .... still slept through it.

WOW!! Do you have any trouble with falling asleep while you are driving a car?

Not if I'm really tired. Which is why I pull over before I get that way, and just fall asleep sitting there in the driver's seat. Many a time I have been awoken by the hammering of a highway patrolman's fist on the window, told to get out of the car for a sobriety test (which I always pass because I am not drunk, just sleepy), and then I get back in the car and go back to sleep.

If I wake up enough on the first go round, I generally ask them to radio to their fellow officers that I am not (1) drunk or (2) dead, and that I would love it if they would leave me the hell alone so I can sleep until I am not sleepy anymore.

That is what I do ever since I fell asleep at the wheel and ran off the road and into a field at which point the car rolled to a stop and I woke up in the morning surrounded by cattle. It only takes one time to make me understand the importance of not making that mistake again.
