Where did the mouse pointer go?

With Version 3.0 of the firmware, I want a mouse pointer when a mouse is connected, but I don't want a mouse pointer when using the SmartQ7 when I use it as a tablet.

Before in < 3.0 firmware, we had the mouse pointer all the time. Even if you have a mouse plugged in. Now with a mouse plugged in, you don't get a mouse cursor.

Did anybody else have an issue with the file being named SmartQ7?

I was going nuts! Then I renamed it to SmartQ5 and it's flashing now.

These random moments are making me insane.

For a Q7,

The instructions in post #374 work.

I just upgraded my firmware per the instructions given here on this thread. Worked without a problem. Thanks.

If you downloaded from the links in post #354/355 you've downloaded SmartQ 5 version...

I'm the guy that posted #374. I downloaded that file, of course.

I expanded the rar, got a SmartQ7 file.

It would NOT load. I reformatted that card forty-eleven times. Switched cards twice. Maybe it's the flasher firmware in the device, expecting Q5?

It's just insane. I'm getting all kinds of weird stuff going on.

Anyway, it flashed. And I've set up the handhelds.org repositories. Which are missing a bunch of stuff, like GPE.

But they've done a very nice job with the interface. I'm gonna play for a while. Then I'm gonna see if I can build something up from the Mer .14 release, using GPE and Jaunty. And I want FBReader 10, not 8.

If the weirdness continues, I probably won't be able to...

I plugged in the dongle that came with the Q7, but I don't see where to turn Bluetooth on. I thought it was the BT Manager, but it said that I needed to turn the BT on first. Can you help?

Thanks,

I can confirm that the 3.0 firmware find WPA2 networks better.

I had the same problem as rogue_ronin. I had to rename the update file to SmartQ5 to get it to flash on my SmartQ7. It seems to be working .

Guys, i am thinking of buying this, however a question to those who have bought this.

How is the pdf reading experience on this? Especially if the pdf has image files in it. Also any luck of it rendering comics? An app like comix would be cool if it could support that,

I'm about to finish my full review. Sorry about the delay folks, just had a busy week. I think all of us have learned a lot about the SmartQ 7 this week alone.

On another note, I'm getting an error now that seems permissions related when I use GDebi. Anyone experienced this yet?

Failed to run gdebi-btk '--non=interactive' '/media/disk/mirage_0.9-1_arm.deb' as user root. Unable to copy the user's Xauthorization file.

EDIT: I found the fix. It was on the chinese forum. Whoever posted the fix had it right but the syntax is not correct so I had to remove spaces here and there. If you are having this problem here is the answer. Open evilvte and type this command exactly how you see it:

sudo touch ~/.Xauthority && sudo chown $LOGNAME ~/.Xauthority && chmod 775 ~/. Xauthority

I was able to install Mirage (image viewer) on the new firmware after I used this command.

Thanks Coldsun, I have this too. Thought it was an escalating problem of other stuff I may or may not have done.

Will try this fix. Cheers
