Ok, Right now, my 8yo son came to me and the conversation went about like this:

Son: Mom, you know on Zoo Tycoon 2, it says that otters have 2 tricks; to jump out of the water and to look cute!

Me: Otters????

S: Yes, isn't that silly that one of their tricks is to look cute? The look cute already! (massive giggles)

M: cute otters?

S: hahaha (walking away)

M: (mumbles something about pshrynk)

So, tell me, does my son have psychic abilities, or just really good timing?

OK - I thought pshrynk was just being a bit... how shall I say this... overly cautious... but now I think he might be on to something!

Do you think it's a reflection of the human desire to control all that is around them? Do you think it's a way we try to control our own fears (pshrynk can chime in here)? Hell, as long as it's chocolate, I really don't care what shape it's in. It can be melted blob shape, and I'll eat it. Although, caveat, I am not a dark or semi-sweet chocolate fan. I like mine milk, sometimes with caramel inside. Never (EVER) with either peanut butter or cherries (ick!). Peanuts themselves or nuts generally .... good ..... caramel ..... good, but beyond that, no thanks. And, if it's dark chocolate, save it for yourself .... totally wasted on me.

omg, for me, definitely dark. And milk chocolate only if it's stuck in cute little candy coating (m&ms), filled with peanut butter (reeses-- no whole peanuts need apply!) or with carmel. I'll for for a snickers (only exception on the peanut rule), and a variety of other choices as well. I'm not (that) picky (although I'm with you- no fruit in my chocolate!! chocolate orange? pah!)

Incidentally, right now, I'm eating an otter pop. Funny how predominantly otters are figuring into my life today. Who knew?

Moving wires and microphones - my flat has temporarily been turned into a recording studio and I'm helping out (in return for food). Reader is in my pocket so I have something to do during the noisy bits!

Trying to back stuff up to DVD - only I seem to have a tub of coasters (supposed to contain 50 DVD+Rs). So far 3 have worked and about 10 haven't.

Not sure if I should persevere, or just dump the lot and grab another tub.

We have a small chocolatier (a small chocolate shop, not a small maker of chocolate) down the bottom of the hill, and today, while buying a small gift pack of their on-site-made chocolates, I also bought, then ate, a chocolate that was dark chocolate ganache, flavoured with chilli, wrapped in a dark chocolate shell and sprinkled with a tiny amount of roasted chilli skin. Nice. Dark as my soul and as warm as the place it's going.

Cheers,
Marc

Relaxing after having spent an afternoon at the Natural History Museum with the nieces (11), sister in law, mother in law and brother in law. I did get a new nickname from the nieces though.
