No, and if someone asked me that, I would likely just get up and leave. I would probably ask them (if I didn't already know) what they did for a living (or if they were retired, what they used to do for a living), but that would mostly just be to find out more about them for conversational purposes.

Around here, people are forever trying to set me up on dates. Most of the time it's with someone who is worth a bazillion dollars, but has less than zero personality. I'll take a good personality over money any time hands down.

More important to me is what they do for fun. If they are big on hunting, then I don't see a huge future in the relationship. If they love cats, reading, computers, animated films, building models, and carpentry .... then at least we've got a few things in common.

One person could pay for the dinner and the other gets the movie? I think it really depends on who you're with. On the first date I completely expected the guy to pay but after dating awhile I'd pay or we'd split the bill or one of us would pay for the dinner the other would pay for the movie.

I married my husband because well he fed me a lot. But our courtship wasn't exactly traditional since he lived in Beligum and I was in the US for most of it.

After some thought I noticed that your question is a subject that a guy would not be worried by. Why is it important for you? Is this a reason why many women want dates in expensive restaurants? But why, to prepare for a long relationship?
Just curious.
No idea... (see below)

I married my husband because we liked each other and we connected... I met him on camp at the start of our university career (which neither of us finished, but that's beside the point...) We never really "dated", neither of use really cares about eating out. And if we do (especially when we were just students), we go to usually cheaper restaurants. The only time we went to a really expensive restaurant was in Sankt Moritz, during our honeymoon...

We "dated" outside, at night, with a telescope beside us

I feel the same way Ricky.

When my wife and I met, we were students, the only thing that mattered to us was each other. If I had to do it over again, I would still go with romance first... but I'd be much more serious.

sounds romantic. I also love star gazing.

I think what made my dating my husband before we married kind of odd is that we only ever got to meet in short bursts of time so we were cramming all this stuff into one or two months. So I ate a lot of pastries, ice cream, and french fries when I visited him in Belgium. (to be fair one of my favorite topics is food and I probably would have ate just as much without him there) I think he just liked watching me eat...he said he never seen someone look so happy eating ice cream or pastries. (and dude if anyone has had Beligum ice cream they'd be totally happy too!)

Mostly we went on bike riding trips and did low key kinds of things and spent a lot of time together.

or as we've discovered elsewhere, Belgium could be part of the US - that would make some sense...

I'm not at all sure that Belgium actually exists. What sort of a "real" country has a fictional character as its most famous citizen?
