I love Chicago too, especially the museums, food, music etc., but I agree with you the trip to the airport is nightmare, the traffic horrendous and the parking is very, very expensive. We try to take public transport whenever we go in to the city. My family are all train fanatics (ahem, excuse me, train enthusiasts) so taking the train is mandatory. For a treat we take Amtrak.

I have been (crazily) thinking of moving back to the Chicago area. I just don't understand why they still insist on having really cold weather for almost half the year....

My friend, who still lives back home just south of Chicago, told me the sales tax has gone through the roof. Something like 9% in the city! I do love it there, but the crazy politicians have ruined the place.

I think we should have an international meet-up once a year (or maybe every 6 months). The first one could be in Scotland, the next in Paris, etc., etc., etc. I would love to meet all of you and get a chance to see the places where you spend your time. It would force me to use the dreaded "B" word (budget) and I would have to forgo any new gadgets for a while. But it would also get me out of Virginia for a change that doesn't include a trip to Florida and that can only be a good thing.

Because we surplus our excess summer weather out to Illinois. Otherwise they'd be tropical year round and probably over run with otters.

Day 5 of my vacation in Rhode Island and we have yet to see the sun. (Insert rant words, big fonts and flashing icons here.)

My son is studing Architecture/Design at UF and wants to go see the Newport Mansions.... so that is the plan for today. Hope it doesn't rain too hard so we can enjoy it a bit.

Change of plan... T-Showers expected all day today... so, canceling Mansion trip and changing that to Tuesday... where only "few showers" are predicted.

Yeah, you should have come down here on vacation. We had tornadoes last night, with huge hail, 60 mph winds, rain (oh, so much rain), and TONS of lightning strikes.

It was soooo cool, except for the part where other people's houses got messed up, and people's cars and airplanes got upended. That was not cool. But the part at our house was sooooo coool!!

Texas must have had a banner day yesteray. I texted Ricky through part of her storm, (the part where she was watching a tornado touch down out her window and NOT running away), my kids called from Eastland County while taking shelter from a tornado warning there, and one of the blogs I read that is set near Austin mentioned that her garden is now flat after the hail they got.

Here in Illinois, we're still basking in the cool air off Wisconsin's glaciers.
