Can't seem to find the answer to this.. Running on Windows, and want to capture some of the errors that come up. I see mention of running calibre from the console which should give you the error output. Is this the same as running it from a CMD prompt in Windows?

I have an HTML file that converts to ePub just fine using Calibre 0.5.14, but beta 2 and beta 3 make an ePub that does not work with ADE for Windows. Is there a problem with the ePub conversion?

I just transferred many books to my sony, sure that no tags/collections would appear. But i had an idea: instead of letting the device index everything after disconnecting from usb, i would just disconnect and reconnect the cable after 2-3seconds. And then i saw that calibre could still read tags from the books that are on the device. That means that the problem occurs when the device indexes the books, and the books are transferred to the device in a way that makes at least calibre able to read the tags it has given to them.

I have taken a copy of cache.xml from the device, lets see what happens after indexing.... Edit: The cache.xml changed a lot. The original file, created from calibre, has a huge last line, 850000 characters long, containing info about almost all of the books. on the contrary, the cache.xml created from the device has each book on a new line, without any huge lines occuring. Also the sony file is quite a bit smaller than the original, (715kb from 846kb) Does this matter? should i attach my 2 cache.xml files somewhere? Last edited by cartman; 06-11-2009 at 03:47 PM. |

If you mean the send to device options, they will be greyed out until you connect an ebook reader.

@cartman: Sure attach the files, I'll have a look, though I don't think the problem is caused by a bug in the cache.xml generated by calibre, as that would affect all prs505/700 users

			Sweet!!!!!

Beta4 seems to have resolved some of the errors that I was seeing. In particular Code:
	ERROR: ERROR: Unhandled exception
TypeError:argument 1 of QAbstractitemModel.createIndex() has an invalid type
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "calibre\gui2\tags.pyo", line 130, in parent
Type Error?: argument 1 of QAbstractItemModel.createIndex() has an invalid type
I notice that in Preferences/Conversion if "Remove spacing between paragraphs" is set, it is not set when you go to "Convert E-books/Look & Feel". Should it not be maintained if it is a Global Preference? Thanks! |

				Beta 0.6 features

As 0.6 has a new anything to anything conversion feature, I was hoping that I would be able to convert .LRF files to .EPUB. I could thus easily change the font and margins on poorly formatted ebooks. I have not seen this capability in 0.6. Will it be available later?

BTW, I have tried LRF2LRS and LRF2LRF without success. The ebook does not seem to be converted properly during LRF2LRS and the reconversion to LRF generates errors. |

@cartman: Try beta 5, I made a change that might fix it.

@seawolfpilot: LRF input is not on my TODO list @am_mread: The way calibre preferences work is there are two levels. the defaluts, that can be changed in the Preferences and also for each book calibre remembers the settings you used the last time you converted it and re-uses those settings when you convert it again. In particular, last used settings override default settings. So the defaults will affect things only the forst time you convert a book. |
