u100 msi Wind of 6 cell battery and 160 GB hard drive. Made of awesome.
For the record, I just learned that the correct setting is "minimal power management." "Max battery" sucks, big time. |

Its so frickin' cute.
Okay, you've heard the reports from Ricky Maveety, Daffy, and others who are pretty knowledgeable about computers. Now you get one from someone who just basically plays around. I did as Daffy said, and didn't even turn it on, just flipped it over, unscrewed the little screws, and when I separated the little metal holders, out popped the 1 gig card. Took the new 2 gig, and put it in. Put the cover back on, plugged it in and turned it on. Nothing. Thought a minute. Turned it back over, undid the lid, and noticed the card was loose. That can't be good. No matter how I tried, I couldn't get the card to snap in properly. Finally, husband walked over, and knowing I was very close to panic, asked nicely "is there anything I can do" I explained, he said "here let me sit down, and immediately popped it in correctly. Stupid husband. I realized then that you have to angle the card in order for it to go in properly.........I wasn't doing that. So.........put the lid on, turned it back over, turned it on and bingo bango..........sucker fires itself up, everything working like a charm. I love XP, loaded firefox, and got the email set up. It found my wireless, so far no problems. Just have some fine tuning to do.......but so far.......I'm loving it. Totally glad I went for this one. Its amazing what they've managed to put into such a small unit. OH..........The touchpad is okay, but I took my logitech nano vx from the laptop, plugged it in, and its working fine. Tomorrow, plan to take it with to daughters house, and Barnes and Noble. That should be a hoot. Would I recommend this? Absolutely. Obviously, its idiot proof. ![]() |

Yay! Congratulations! Sorry you had trouble with the RAM but now you know how to do it and won't have a problem in the future. You've moved up another rung on the computer expertise ladder.

update on Asus 1000HE
So I've had this for about 3 weeks or so.
It does everything promised, battery life is outstanding, keyboard excellent, and since I"m using wireless mouse, no problems with touchpad. I don't use half the stuff it comes with.......bluetooth, camera. But, for me, here's the best part. After whining about not having the Kindle these last few weeks, I finally took a chance and downloaded mobipocket reader, and moved some of my books over from my laptop. I gotta say, I'm finding the reading experience pleasant. maximized the screen, enlarged the font a tad, set it on a laptray(see picture) kick back in recliner, and read away. The contrast is better than on the kindle, the screen larger, and the page turn is instantaneous. No 'flash' and suprisingly, I'm not feeling the eye strain some talk about. Thanks for all the input. This is a keeper. |
