Supports folders
Dear Kacir:
I want to answer your question but you gave me only a little info here. I hope I do not miss your point. Yes, you can create and fill all folders on your PC or MAC and then drag and drop them into the EZ Reader Pocket PRO using USB. I do this for my music files as I am that rare breed that loves his music on his eBook Reader and likes everything very clear on the device. I hate hunting for things. I have a folder for country music, hard rock, soft rock, pop, and Portugese Water Dog barks (a little humor). Have I missed your point? I know you are sharp and that is why I am not sure I hit this one fully. |

That is what I thought too.
Quote:
When I unpacked the two samples my first reaction was to charge fully. I always tell others to do this and so I do not trust the charge gauge. So, I charged fully and then tried it. It is not too earth-shaking with prototypes to see them freeze up on occasion. So, I know all will be fixed very quickly. It just makes it hard to fully test the device. I am by now so use to the EZ Reader which never complains and never hangs up (freezes). I mentioned this because a very few have said I always tell the good and never mention the bad. So, yesterday I mentioned what is my first reaction in that it turns pages like the wind, the case is improved and holds even better than on the 6 inch, and there are features on the Pocket PRO we did not even know it had... but it will freeze with the existing firmware. Apparently, they were working on cramming more into this device and the new additions cause a glitch. It's normal with prototypes. |

Most of the readers work like this: You drag and drop (or create on an SD card) any kind of folder structure, yet, when you start your device it does not display folders, you can not browse your folder structure. All you get is a "flat" view, with all the files dumped in one very long list. The device "supports folders" when you can create folders on your SD card: Code:
Fiction First Author Horror story.mobi Novel.mobi Second Author first Book.txt second book.txt third one.txt manuals how to cook egg.txt Learn rocket building in 24 hours.pdf random_text.txt shopping_list.txt Code:
Fiction manuals random_text.txt shopping_list.txt Code:
First Author Second Author With the VAST majority of current devices that do not support folders you get: Code:
Horror story.mobi Novel.mobi first Book.txt second book.txt third one.txt how to cook egg.txt Learn rocket building in 24 hours.pdf random_text.txt shopping_list.txt |

On another subject, wow! That huge EZ Reader logo is ugly enough, to prevent me from considering the product bearing it. I seriously couldn't look at it on regular basis :-) It looks cheesy and makes the device look cheap.... Astak needs to think of design, if it's to play with the big boys. |

Thank you for answering Kacir's question. I appreciate the help very much. The EZ Reader Pocket PRO and EZ Reader Basic are so much the same with only great features added. I am sure that the Pocket PRO must support folders just like its big brother. |

Ugly Website Logo!!!
Quote:
WOW!! You do not hold anything back. Perhaps you could have said that you threw up upon site of it or something (ha). OK, two bad comments on the website logo are enough for me. I am going to have them come up with a better design. What happened is that we vote by committee. 9 staff members have one vote each and I got outvoted by the young girls. Let me see if I can find what I origionally voted for and I will try to post that to see if that is better. Sorry, didn't mean to cause such a violent reaction. Last time Griffonwing hunted me down and beat hell out of me. Please do not tell him!! |

I must concur as well. I also would prefer a much more streamlined, professional logo on my reader as well. The 'EZ' is very bold and in a font that, well, looks like it was drawn by someone in kindergarten. The only real positive comment that I can make on it is that it definately leaves a brand impression, but it might not be the impression you are wanting. It looks like the beating didn't do any good. Care for round 2? ![]() |

I think Sonist was commenting on the size of the EZ Reader logo on the EZ Reader itself (i.e. in my scans).
It is a bit big, but in daily use I don't think I even see it any more. What is on the screen is the important thing. Last edited by wallcraft; 06-09-2009 at 05:49 PM. |

Which Logo?
Quote:
Robertb I think you might have misunderstood which logo he meant. I understood he meant the EZ Reader logo on the device... AJ Edit: Shessh, two answers posted while I was typing mine....... Last edited by AJ Starr; 06-09-2009 at 05:48 PM. |

The white/silver of the device logo (EZReader) really stands out on the dark colors of the cases. That logo needs to be in maybe a script font (though with the capital letters that won't be easy), or maybe even two different fonts (the EZ in caps in non-script and then "Reader" in something nice and flowy. I can knock out a few samples and send them if you like... |

In branding, simple is often a very good thing. Even Amazon figured it out, after the K 1 (and ripped off Apple - pretty successfully, IMO :-) P.S. Robert, one last word of friendly advise: Never, ever, do design by committee :-) Assign it to someone you trust, and then trust them. Last edited by Sonist; 06-09-2009 at 05:51 PM. |

Reader vs Mentor
As long as we are being picky......
Robert, you probably aught to replace your Avatar with the Reader versus the Mentor, since we all talk about the Reader..... ![]() |
