You determine how important your time is....
If you are planning to do a number of book conversions, it helps if you can get cheap paperback versions that you can cut up. Then, beg, borrow, purchase or steal a Scansnap S510.

That will scan both sides of a page in about 3 seconds, and will very neatly go through a stack of 50 pages at a time. It automatically converts the scans to PDF and will do the OCR for you as well. It also rotates the scan so that each page is oriented the way you would normally want to have it be.

An exacto knife is my favorite tool for removing pages.

do you guys think your reading rate has gone up since acquiring your ereaders? I've always been a big reader, but even with that, I think my reading rate has gone up exponentially (even WITH all the time here at MR!)

Definitely! I read pbooks faster so I can go back to using my ereader, and then I enjoy reading on my reader so I read more than before. Even with time spent here. Perhaps that's why I'm sleeping less

I've always read a lot. I started reading electronically at about the same time I didn't go to the library every week anymore. Not sure if I started reading more, but I know I'd have started reading less...
