The first thing I do with mine will be to pick it up off the floor of the lobby of my apartment building, since it won't fit in my mailbox

Seriously -- after plugging it in, I'm going to play with it while it downloads the content I've already "sent" to it from my Kindle account, and also direct two subscriptions to it (off my K2, sadly) -- NYTimes and Newsweek. Then I will load my MCSE training materials (PDFs). Finally, when I am down to 3 or 4 hours before my alarm clock goes off, I'll go to bed.

Kinda stinks that I'll have to wait till Monday night to get it -- assuming the USPS doesn't mess with my head!

numindast, how do you transfer books from the Kindle 2 (which I have) to the Kindle DX?

I read a lot of military history --- maps, maps, maps --- and nothing shows up really usefully on the Kindle 2; if I want to work with the maps, I just have to get a hard copy. So I'm hoping the DX will help that situation.

Yes, a comparision is extremely necassary.

It was kind of serendipitous: the first thing I did was load my sheet music on it. Then I loaded some comic book pages -- much easier than I thought it would be. Now I can read my sheet music and my comics on my Kindle!

I took my Kindle to quartet rehearsal today and read all my music off it -- no more stacks of looseleaf music to wrangle. It was a great experience and the other guys in my quartet were intrigued (and maybe a little envious).
