Upper left corner of the convert dialog allows you to select the input format for single conversion. If you are doing bulk conversion, no.

Instead of backing up an existing library, is there an easy way to install 0.6 and have it create it's own library somewhere else? What about my existing preferences file; will there be a conflict?

Use the --with-library option. However, backing up your library is just a precaution for the beta just in case there is a bug (the db updating code for instance) that causes data loss.

Your existing preferences file should not be affected by the update in that you should be able to go back and forth between 0.6 and 0.5 with the same preferences files. However to be absolutely sure, you can just copy the calibre preferences folder before updating.

Just a couple of questions on the beta: 1) Which version of XPath is supported? 2) With the change to fractional series numbers, does calibre impose any limitations on the format and numeric value? I can already see future users asking these questions and/or trying to get calibre to do far more than currently expected with both features. For instance, Trekkers trying to enter Star Dates into the series number. Or users creating their own unique numbering scheme / index. Pbook filing system, DC Comics universe / timeline / setting. You know, if I think about this any more I'm going to start wanting some of these... |

The version of Xpath supprted is 1.0 You can use any number greater than or equal to 0 of the form d.dd as a series number |

It did not work. After I installed Calibre and even started it with that option, it went into a dialog box that asked me again what Library to use. I again specified the NEW library location, which has no files in it. Calirbe 0.6 then proceeded to give me a "Moving Library...." dialog box, with an Abort button I cannot click.

Clicking the X box killed the Moving Library, but then Calibre 0.6 started pointing to my existing library.

From what I can tell, luckily none of the files in the old library were removed, just copied.

Exiting the new version of Calibre 0.6 did not stop the process of library copying. Instead, a calibre-parallel.exe was left running in the background that continued to try copying books. This must be fixed as well.

You really shouldn't exit calibre in the middle of a library move operation, it can have undefined results.
