It means what I stated earlier. MobileRead is Sony Reader central. Kindle readers are spread out between the Amazon forums (the Sony forums there are dead), MobileRead, KindleBoards (which I think has the largest membership), several Yahoo Groups, a couple of Social Networking sites...

The Kindle owners who hang out here are hearty souled geeks who want to stay on top of what's going on the ebook reader world beyond our beloved Kindles.

I'm sure the Kindle numbers would be higher if they were available for sale outside the US of A. As someone else pointed out, only a small percentage of the world's population can legally buy these devices. So, blame Amazon for the low percentage!

I originally wanted one very badly but I'm now very glad I wasn't "allowed" to. From my perspective I have more options available to me now which is a very good thing.

I actually follow many different sites for kindles, but mobileread is the one I find to be most informative and well rounded.

Sorry I was late to the polls my kindle friends and I were all busy doing good deads: saving the planet, helping the homeless, researching cures for diseases, that sort of thing. Everyone else said they were a little busy and might not be able to show.
