Gen3 New Firmware build 796 available for CyBook Gen3 - Page 13

So, what kind of bugs did it fix, compared to the 538? Alot of what was mentioned before seemed to be fixes of the intervening upgrades.

Whether the people on bus/train would be annoyed probably depends on your..errm...particulars

It would definitely liven up that boring commute...

A few things that I remember off the top of my head, specifically relating to Mobi support (which is all that I use):

- Dictionary lookup bugs fixed (it used to randomly reboot when looking up some words in a dictionary).
- Support for large cover images added.
- Support for tables added.
- Hyphenation support added (not flawless, certainly, but more of a "pro" than a "con", IMHO).

They're also added "pan" support for PDF files, so you can scroll around a large page. I can't say how well or otherwise this works, since I don't use many PDF files.

It works reasonably well. I've used quite a few PDF files and have yet to see an error with 796.

What is this? I cannot remember any change in how images was handled. Large images always worked. There was a bug that was fixed early that the reader crashed for some books and it seemed to depend on the image.

Based on my experience, the large covers weren't actually supported in 538; the covers were just automatically reduced. Some more effectively than others....many just switched to a bland shape. I'd like to see the actual cover. Maybe I will upgrade...

I just updated to this firmware, still no FOLDER VIEW! When will this be corrected? Why was this must-have feature not included in this firmware update? They should be working on this issue 24/7 until it is resolved. What is the holdup?

This firmware upgrade is about a year old. It's been known for the same time that it wouldn't bring folder support. So, allow me to ask- where exactly have you been hiding?

I will be happy to know how you will manage to use this update on you Cybook since you seems to have a 400Mhz one and this "update" cannot work on 400Mhz cybooks

You can see my Cybook from there? Mine is over a year old, and is the 200mhz model with 512MB. Firmware update 1.2 (796) installed on mine with no problems, but is missing the folder view I need so I can organize my books...

I always organize myself the same way - my left fingers/hand/arm attach to my left shoulder, right set attached to my right shoulder. Similar with the legs, feet and toes. And, of course, left ear/eye/eyebrow to the left side of my head, etc. I find everything works better that way.

As for my ebooks, I figure that when Bookeen comes out with it, it will be authorized for my heirs in my will that they be allowed to install it. Unless - as I'm now assuming will be the case - it occurs *AFTER* the end of the Universe (as foretold by the Mayan calendar). In that case all bets are off!
