Hmmmm ... odd. I always search using the search box myself. Google is set up as my default search engine there. I've never seen much point in searching just using the main URL box.

BUt it works. Just type something in the address bar and press enter... it will search... I think it uses the default specified search provider to do this... I don't see a way to set it otherwise.

Doesn't quite work as a search function for me. For example, if I type in Hilton hotels (just that), I don't get a search page with Hilton hotels as a search term. I get www.hiltonhotels.com .... even though I did not type that in.

it goes thru looking up all passable combo to make it a webpage 1st then if it does not go to a website it will uping up a search.

ie. hiltionhotel.com
www.hiltionhotel.com
hiltionhotel.net
www.hiltionhotel.net
..

That's cause it "fixes" the bad URL you typed. You can turn that off if you want also. (Turn domain guessing off).

http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Location+bar+search

But I also usually use the search bar, I hit Alt-K, type something in then type Alt-Enter to open the search in a new tab.

What I don't like about the search bar is that it searches in the selected thing or doesn't set it back. For example, I want my "default" search to be Google. But sometimes I want to search on amazon or wikipedia... just for that one search. I want to be able to choose the provider and have it search it. But, then I want it to set it back to my default search. Neither firefox or IE work this way, and I never "get" why.

Another think you can do is add keywords to your search providers. For example add "g" to google then when you are in the location bar you can type

g my search term

and it will search in google. You can also set up keywords for bookmarks. I created one to the kindle store... so I just type:

k book name

and it brings me to a search of the kindle store for that book.

I see no reason to go to chrome!!!

Yea... so this is a rant against chrome... IT IS NOT FIREFOX... IT DOES'T WORK ON MY Mac!!!

Well, it's done! I quited!

It wasn't really about the language issue (although I was blamed today for saying "really", en English, to myself while checking my schedule - one word!!!) but mostly about a general atmosphere of dissatisfaction all over the bakery.
No one was taking the lead while the boss was out on vacation, everyone "throwing the monkey" (poor Adrian) at the following employee, so, in a few particular situations, I took responsibility and acted so we could keep being efficient. Older employees took it personally, started backstabbing me, and it all went down from there. The only thing I knew, until this afternoon when I confronted my boss, is that the atmosphere was harrowing (word of the week), and I couldn't deal with that anymore. Everyone was complaining about everyone, it was crazy. Every day of last week I got back home crying - hence my presence on MR, needed the positiveness.
Quitting today was the only option for my sanity, and confronting my boss (she's more than mean) learned me a few other things that are pushing me even faster on the way out.
I'll get back on my feet pretty quickly, I'm not even worried. I even might work at the SAQ (société des Alcools du Québec, where they sell wine and stronger liquors and where the employees are extra-well paid AND have a 50% discount on the booze!).
So I won't talk about it anymore, won't rant about it, work my three remaining weeks with clenched teeth and get it over with.

Thanks again, I really needed the hugs and support, and don't worry, everything will be perfectly fine. Sorry for that.

Hey, there's about a thousand new threads to check out yay!

If it helps to talk about it here, talk about it here. Bottling things in is really, really bad for you. Voice of experience, 'n all.

And kind of related - does anyone have a more functional brain they could sell me? I'm really not happy with the thoughts mine churns out...

Shockingly, I only seem to have a small amount left. As I don't recall drinking it all, I've either been doing something right, or something wrong
