It looks like the Lifehacker.com Hive Five award for best netbook is the Asus EeePC 1000HE amongst a few other competitors dated June 2, 2009.

well, I hadn't looked in on this thread all, not knowing what a netbook really was and not all that interested in learning...

dh brought home an ACER yesterday. so I had to join the poll. I'm on it right now, trying to make my fattish fingers hit the right keys. I have no opinions on it, really, except it's awfully cute. I almost feel like I'm playing with a kids' toy.

I've been lusting after netbooks for the last year and have been *this* close a few times but I'm trying to steel myself to wait for the PixelQi displays. Even if it doesn't end up being the "e paper replacement" it's hyped to be, it could really improve netbooks. Better battery life and sunlight readability. What's not to like? I could sit in the park or in a sidewalk cafe and surf. Heck, even my own back yard. It might also solve my need for a "work" reader as well as a recreational interwebbifier.
