I've had my Sony for about 3 years and take it just about everywhere. I must have single-handedly sold at least 10 or 15 of these things for Sony. People just come up and start asking questions. So, maybe we're not brainiacs, but early adopters. And as for the Kindle, I haven't seen anyone with one yet. Go Sony!

I was not "funny". What I said was about kindle owners who do NOT visit mobileread forum. They don't need to.
Most of the members of the forum are aware about all pitfalls and their decisions to have Kindle is a conscious decision.

I will repeat:
I do believe that there are a lot more kindle owners than sony, simple because kindle is a lot easier to use and doesn't require any computer knowledge. Many people without this sort of knowledge and other things you can find out here are buying Kindle cluelessly, without doing the proper research prior to buying the reader and are the type of people I refered to in my previous post.

I think that that is true. Also, somewhere, it was said that there are a lot more places for Kindlers to hang than here. Not being a Sonyit, I am unaware of the opportunities for them. But MR is my favorite place, so here I am.

And I'm still waiting for Portugal...

I understand what type of people you were talking about. I stopped reading the Amazon Kindle forums for that exact reason. ("how do you turn on the backlight? WHAAT? No backlight? How can I read in the DARK???

)

However, the wording in your post wasnt' really clear in that aspect. It was pretty much damning all kindle owners.
