Actually, house values are down quite a bit now so it is a buyers market. Interest rates are pretty low to. Of course you are going to need really strong credit and have cash for a down payment to get a mortgage. (if only we required those things over the last 6 years perhaps we wouldn't have some many problems right now.)

they are starting to go down here... but not enough yet. they went so high that it might take a while. but i'm keeping an eye on them... and hoping...

of course, i don't have a big down payment either, so this is still really just a dream...

'Allo, 'Allo was a very successful BBC sitcom. It was set during the 2nd World War in France at a small restaurant run by Rene. Among the cast of characters (whose main task was to poke fun at the French accent, it seemed) was the woman in charge of the French Underground. She would regularly appear in the restaurant and approach Rene and the associated French, together with the two trapped British Airmen, and always started with "Listen very carefully; I shall say this only once." (Or something like that.) Needless to say, she had to repeat it many times.

Okay; background over.

Now that sounds, to my somewhat deranged interpretation (look -- its probably the ZCDs, or Post-PNS Stress Syndrome), like the catch phrase of the leader of the French Resistance.

teehee ! the irony is that i actually *have* seen at least one episode of 'Allo 'Allo... but a long time ago, and clearly not enough of it to remember the catchphrases. it was a funny show though... i wonder if it's still around.

(i know, i know, "it's not funny if you have to explain it" but i appreciate the explanation anyway !)

ARrrggg!! I've been on the phone with TOMTOM (my GPS device) for the last 4 hours trying to get it working again! I've spoken to 5 different people who were all very nice but treated me like I was a feather-head! Now I have to completely reformat the thing and reinstall everything.

Next time the stupid thing asks me if I want to download the newest maps I am going to say NO. I mean, how much could the streets have changed in the last 6 months?!?!?

ok, doesn't this sound like the most logical thing in the world to do....

hitch up your vastly oversized boat to your underpowered truck. insert yourself into rush hour traffic. make sure that you hit the 2 lane highway part right around the heaviest traffic time and create a 3 mile back up. yep!!! makes absolutely PERFECT sense! let's screw up everyone elses commute to make sure we get our fishing rods wet just that much earlier! *grrrrrrrr* there are days I wish I had a 50 cal on the top of my car!

You really need to work on your relationship, then. Does pshrynk do relationship counseling?

You're absolutely correct, though. I should have said my GPS device service.

"Intellectual" threads just aren't worth posting in most of the time. I think that's what kills them. It's got nothing to do with you.

hrm, I could just about get a decent looking one of my home desk without having to tidy up too much (it may be a bit untidy right now, but I still know where everything is). But I either need to get in to work early one day, or come up with a good reason to give to my colleagues as to why I'm taking a pic of my desk (which in stark contrast to my home one is empty apart from the usual bits (calendar, keyboard, mouse, something to hit people with...))
