ODE TO A BATTLE LOST IN TIME.....You've evoked a vision of raw bloody revolution and then the revolution of hope.....I like it ....

….and memories too.
I’d rather go, where the crowds be thin, no hustle, bustle, and other such din. Somewhere where the sun shines, and the wines don’t make my head spin. I’d rather go, where the air is pure, water clear, and pains can cure. Somewhere where my heart can rest, and the best of all, to be good and sure. I’d rather go, where pace of life is slow, no fast moving cars, nor brats in tow. Somewhere not too far away but far enough to avoid the fray. I’d rather go and just lie low. just me and you and memories too. |

Here is a lullabye that I've written. I have the music in my head. The last line is where I derived my internet nom de plume.
-----------Enter Into Dreams--A Lullaby----------- Enter into dreams, O wondrous child, Into thoughts of wonder and sights unseen. Enter into dreams, O beautiful child, To places you have never been. Where visions course throughout eternity, Where fantasy is turned reality. Where rainbows spread their colors near and far, And dewdrops quench the thirst of every flower. Enter into dreams, O wondrous child, Imagination, love and endless joys. Enter into dreams, O beautiful child, And behold the hidden lives of girls and boys. With wonder and a child's innocent eyes, A boy can be a hero if he tries. When lost in hopes of fame and victory, Eternal life and love will come to thee. Enter into dreams, O wondrous child, The time has come at last for you to rest. Enter into dreams, O beautiful child, Close your eyes tonight, and begin your quest. In dresses, rich with lace of pearly white, A girl's a little princess, a lovely sight. In palace gardens serene, the sun a-shine, Warming morning dew on ivy vine. Enter into dreams, O wondrous child, And find what you desire the most to be. Enter into dreams, O beautiful child, Till morning and your mother's face you'll see. The blossoms and the lilies, fragrance sweet, And the pastures and the fields of harvest wheat, The place inside your mind where all is gay, May the night protect you there and never stray. Enter into dreams, O wondrous child, Where eternal realms abound, and you are king. Enter into dreams, O beautiful child, May you soar into tomorrow on griffon's wing. --------------------------- Here's are a couple of free-verse attempts. ---------THE NEED------------- I want. I lie on cushions of leather and lace, and I want. I sit here in comfort of this High-backed seventeenth-century Chesterfield Smoking sweet Cuban cigars and Sipping rich Oriental teas. I stare blindly into The burning hearth. This yearning heart. Phantom shadows of laughter Pitter-patter across The walls and ceiling. I am a man of misery and wealth, Jealous of the men of empty pockets And children. These glasses that frame my sight Are of the color gold, not rose. Old paintings adorn my walls whose Time-worn canvases I would gladly rend For a cheap Kodak of a family. When seen by society, I am A man of no needs. But I want. ------------------------ And here is one written for a girl that I most recently came in contact with, after 12 years. This was writeen for her many years ago. -----THE KISS------- she stands in fields of wheat, in linen the colour of rush a hand, lightly calloused, sweeps slowly across her cheek, around her ear, through her hair xxxxxxxxxxxxa slight gasp....a faint smile an arm, tender and strong, slides softly down her arm, to her waist, around her back xxxxxxxxxxxxa nervous sigh....warm sweet breath drawing her waist tightly... bending her head gently... he smiles xxxxxxxxxxxxlove in his eyes....a smile true leaning down, he touches softly his lips to the corners of her mouth xxxxxxxxxxxxa soft purr....he feels her rise he gently presses his lips to hers as their mouths open, their tongues are as waves crashing upon the shore |

Here is another one written in college.
-----THE TAPESTRY----- Among the ragg'd tops and frayed edges of the tapestry Hides a moment in history when xxxxxxthe air was sweeter xxxxxxthe water was cleaner xxxxxxlife was all-around better On grandmother's wall between two gaudy candlestick holders There hangs the tapestry that xxxxxxshows seasons of old xxxxxxshows hard-working days xxxxxxshows well-deserved nights An abundantcy of knowledge and an immeasurable sum of life can be experienced among xxxxxxeach solitary color xxxxxxeach delicate stitch xxxxxxeach woven thread Handed down from mother to daughter are generations of Learning and loving through the art of a single tapestry. |

Thanks. I actually wrote a story, all in verse. I need to go through it and see if I can adjust it a bit. The rhyme may be changed in a couple stanzas. I can't remember. I'll have to post it sometime. But it's LONG. 23 stanzas long.
