Well, RM, as long as YOU know where everything is, thats all that matters.

How are you feeling today? Less stressed?

I went into town for more paint, but the truck hadn't come in, so I came back empty handed. I was so tired, I ended up taking another long nap. However, I did get a few more walls painted and a few loads of laundry done. I am just plain tuckered out after all that inspection prep.

And, now that you've all seen how bad the office looks, don't let me hear any of you whining about how bad your desks are. I mean REALLY.

Oh, that piano is gorgeous!! The rest of the clean part is too, but I've already expressed mild jealousy, and don't want you to think evil of me. But the piano is indeed, *very* pretty. Wow!

Yes, I've got two Aeron chairs in the office. The desk is close to 30 feet long ... it sort of wraps around two walls in the room. Then in the center is a large island sort of thingie that is a foot high in stuff I need to go through). Then the far wall has those bookcases that I built .... earlier in the year? Maybe late last year? I can't remember.

It was my grandfather's piano, built in 1901 or something. It was in our house growing up, and I learned to play piano on it. After my mom died, it was pretty much the only thing I wanted, so I got it. This after a long argument with one of my aunts who thought it should go to the museum where my grandfather's papers are kept. You can imagine my response to that. However, it got moved several times, and the cats did a lot of damage to the pedals, so it was a bit of a job fixing it up. I still need to have a tuner work on it. Most of the time now, I just pull out my keyboard, plug it in and play (drives the cats crazy ... the only thing they seem to like is Bach).

RM, do you play that piano?

I have that same ergo chair at my office at work and a similar one at home.

A Pottery Barn kind of woman, I see. After my own heart.

Can't wait to see the AFTER shot of your office. Bet it will really be something.

Oh yes .... I would say 99% of the furniture that I did not build myself came from Pottery Barn, Williams Sonoma, and Restoration Hardware. I like the PB stuff the best because it's really easy to build pieces that match or compliment it.

The stuff I built myself is stuff like the green love seat in the library/media room. I'm really rather proud of that piece.

Oh, and the other questions were actually being answered as you were posting your questions.

Hah!! Well, let me tell you something ... there is nothing in the world more heartbreaking than going through a Restoration Hardware Store and seeing what your freaking expensive leather sofa, club chair and ottoman USED to look like before the cats decided to claw the hell out of them.

I know I need to either reupholster them or slip cover them sometime soon, but cleaning the office really needs to come next -- before my next medical emergency anyway.

Actually, the reason for me posting my picture was just serendipity with posting it on a photography mailing list, where I posted it to publicly shame myself. Amongst that mob, towering reaches of likely firecode breaches, calling themselves "desks", are badges of honour. I've been asked to unsubscribe from the mailing list.

I've done ENOUGH damage for the next several years. First we bought THE DESK, and now today I found the matching pantry to our microwave stand marked down 2/3. Yes, I bought it. My poor husband. He went from being able to get all his worldly goods into two duffel bags to a small house full of LARGE furniture....in about four years. Which is exactly how long I've been here. I think he's still in shock.

All this furniture buying is seriously denting my book budget....
