Then again if they use custom firmware, the jury will be out completely. Additionally if the firmware is indeed custom, what will the support provide in terms of reliability. So, far have not seen many complaints about the EZReader firmware, but really do not know if it's all that custom or not. Last edited by brecklundin; 05-28-2009 at 03:24 AM. |

The relevance of Avagadro's constant to the discussion slightly escapes me, I'm afraid

Please hurry. We already know that there are quite a few distributors that have promised 5" devices, and God only knows how many distributors and/or manufacturers are preparing to pull out another Cooler from the sleeve. |

Just like SaraD, if this unit will sport the Epson, then it will be a viable contender for my first reader.
Now the major question. Which will come out first? The EZReader PocketPro or the EZReader/Mentor Lite sporting the Epson... |

I suspect it will likely have the same firmware as the 6" version, no need to make it different as the buttons are the same and the screen has the same resolution 800x600 although the ppi obviously increases to 200. If there are differences it will only be artificially imposed. Dale |

Another Taiwan holiday!
Quote:
Have you not heard that everything must stop dead in its tracks so Taiwan and China can have a four-day Dragon Boat Festival?? I mean no disrespect to any living being on earth and praise to all people from Taiwan... but it seems Taiwan and China have about 80 holidays a year. So... I cannot answer your questions as the factory is out making merry. The Mentor Lite without Epson is due to arrive the end of June. I have a question into Jinke IF it will be possible to have the EZ Reader Pocker PRO with an Epson controller. I do not think it comes standard with it and perhaps they can update on ours. We have two Pocket PRO eval samples on the way now which will tell us a lot. This decision was made to do a Pocket PRO about 14 hours ago and details are not all worked out. As always, Dale knows a lot more than I do, particularly about the V5. Likewise, he knows it will have the same software as the V3 (our EZ Reader). Also Dale has recommended changes to make it even better and the Jinke engineers are reviewing all of his suggestions now. SO... picture Robert B with about ten dragon boats coming straight at him and you will know the exaspiration of not being able to answer until maybe Monday or Tuesday. The market I meant is North America, Harry.
Quote:
Your point is well taken and I am unfamiliar with the BeBook software. You can imagine that Jinke does not share secrets of one vendor with another (which is as it should be). Perhaps BeBook uses the same and perhaps not. But, the Market for the EZ Reader and EZ Reader Pocket PRO is North America. While we will fill orders from anywhere in the world... our market is North America is that what we can have. Harry, my friend, I have NEVER made a secret of the fact that the EZ Reader is a Hanlin V3 and that the Hanlin V5 will be our EZ Reader Pocket PRO. Yes, there is talk that we will perhaps get a "special for us" Jinke model in the future but these ain't them. So, my only point is that in North America the EZ Reader (and thus the Pocket PRO) will be oustandingly reliable devices PLUS they have the Astak support anjd techincal support. To me, I do not just buy a device... I want a company that backs what it sells behind it. Astak has demonstrated it does that. |

7 inch device is NOT Pixel QI

The 7 inch color screened "Lectra" is only in for trial tests. It is LCD but gets about 8-10 hours per charge. More will be published on my blog when the trial proceeds to yield results. |

Epson controller?
Everyone here seems to want an Epson controller. What's the big deal? Does it have some special features?

jcgam69: When eReader with e-ink technology have Epson controller, it redraws it's screen much faster. E-ink displays are relatively new and it's still work in progress, it is far from it's full potential. As the market grows, more money is thrown into research as more companies want their own piece or two of the pie, for example.
