One of those days...
Ok, to give you some background: On Saturday hubby and I went to make the furniture payment. The place we use is either purchase or rent to own, but their straight up purchase prices are extremely reasonable, and it's usually 120 days same as cash. We just paid our bedroom set off. They had a scratch and dent special on a GORGEOUS huge desk/writing table set. To cut to the chase, we got a heckuva deal on it; and made arrangements for it to be delivered today, Tuesday, between 3 and 4 p.m. At 2:15 p.m. I'm outside, with the neighbor, elbow deep in potting soil planting a shared lilac bush when the furniture delivery people show up. I tell them they're early, and that I'm about to leave to take Chris to work. They say, "Oh, it'll only take a few minutes", and proceed to unload anyway, blocking my driveway in the process. So I run back out and ask the neighbor if she can please take Chris to work, so I don't have to leave furniture delivery people in my house without one of us here.
Not to mention I can't get my car out of the driveway, anyway. Chris and the neighbor leave, slightly behind schedule. The guys "finish" putting the desk together, but without putting the hutch stabilizers on,which means the hutch is just sitting on the desk. Not exactly safe... Then when I start setting up my computer, I realize: The desk is sitting ON TOP OF where the network cable comes up through the floor, and the sheathing on the cable is torn all to pieces. I call the place back, asking them to please send someone to help me lift the desk OFF the network cable. Which, I must say, they did in a big fat hurry. Amazingly, with the sheathing on the cable torn up, I still have connectivity, so I just taped over the spot and told the guys if it caused problems later, I'd call them. Then I find out that for some unknown reason, I have no sound. So I fool with that for a couple of hours but no joy. So... fast forward a few hours. Chris gets home, I tell him about both loose hutch and network cable. He is LIVID. He diagnosed the sound problem as me having a checkbox in the wrong setting in the software, so now I feel like a total idiot. |

![]() We're looking to replace all three pieces. No way can we afford the top-of-the line brands you see in the home decorating mags so we're looking at Kenmore Elite series where the quality and price seem to look OK. Seems like two companies make almost every affordable kitchen appliance there is. ![]() WDE (WetDishwasherEverywhere) |

![]() By the way, did you know that Kenmore is just a brand name Sears puts on products made by other companies? I had no idea until the above mentioned repairman told me, he was very talkative! ![]() |

I should have added to my post that even with the troubles we've had, I would still look at Kenmore products first before considering any others. Even after what happened with my washer, we purchased all the appliances for my in-laws' suite from Sears.

I"ve always loved my Kenmore appliances, but even with that being said, quality control sucks on any brand nowdays. The term "They aren't building them like they used to" is so true. I believe in "planned obsolescence" So......whatever appliance I buy, I get the extended warranty. Yes, I know the arguments against.....but its a great mind reliever. |
