eSlick Vs. COOL-ER

Well, neither device has its own forum yet, so I guess this thread goes here.

Which device do you think is a better machine? I think they are comparable because they are both meant to be cheap, small, barebone readers which handle only a few formats (mp3 for audiobooks, txt, pdf, and ePub and jpg for the COOL-ER, though I hear the eSlick will be getting some image formats in the future). It also seems they both have a drag and drop approach to loading eBooks into their memory, which is awesome (I think "syncing" is the devil's technology). They also both seem to have about the same price (although the wording on the eSlick website indicates it will go up to $300 from $250). Thoughts?

Given what we know of the eSlick and the Cool-er, I would go with the Cool-er since the Cool-er also has ePub support where the eSlick is PDF. And to be honest, I think it's a rather bad idea for a 6" eink device to not support any reflowable eBook formats. Plus the eSlick is going to go up in price and have less functionality then the Cool-er.

But it does...

From the eSlick websites FAQs:

10. Can I change a book's font size and how do I do that?
You can click on the "Menu" button on the left side of the eSlick and select the "Zoom to" option for resizing a page when the option menu pops up. In the reflow mode, you can adjust the font size by selecting the "Font Size" option. When you are reading .TXT files on the eSlick, you can change the font size via the "+/- "button on the right side of the eSlick.

BTW: Foxit is a PDF specialist and already uses reflow technology.

I would still go with the Cool-er. It's a more functional device.

Me too, especially for the price...

But if the eSlick can really deliver PDF with excellent reflow (and thus be the first 6" really usable with PDF), it'd be a tough competitor for ANY reader!
