Pronounce Mexia. Then explain why....

Nope, not even close. Pronounced Ma-he-ya. In Spanish, X is pronounced as he, i.e. Mexico is pronounced (in Spanish) as Me-he-co...

I am French and I can tell you all about it.

You must pronounce "boo..ééé" and write "bouée"
You must pronouce "ké" and write "quai".

I hope this clears up some confusion.

Down 'ere in Oz we pronounce "buoy" as "shark net", and "quay" as "poncy yacht club". For both "your" and "you're" we say "ya" (with a silent "a", vowels not sitting well with us mostly).

Funniest thing I heard recently was a Frenchman (brother-out-law) speaking Australian English while trying to imitate a character from a Kiwi TV series (Munter, from Outrageous Fortune, for anyone who cares). It was choice, bro'.

I have no clue. How about men-zees with stress on the first syllable)? Hmmm, may I have a place of origin, please? It's clearly not British since it contains a "z". (kidding) (off to find origin, meaning, etc.)

We pronounce it MEN-zeez, though I am familiar with the limerick.

You sort of pronounce the "z" as a "g", so it's like saying Min-gis. It's because the original spelling of the name included a letter that isn't in the modern alphabet, but looked a tiny bit like a "z".

But, over here, we also say Men-zeez.

Here's one for you .... no Americans living anywhere NEAR Texas or having been born in Texas should answer.

Pronounce: Bexar .... as a Texan would .... no fair trying to give me any proper Spanish pronunciations.
