PDF to Kindle - how bad is it? - Page 2

Does it look similar on the Kindle as it does with MobiPocket Reader? When I view it with MobiPocket reader, it's zoomed out really far, and sometimes it is rotated on its side (and I don't know how to rotate it vertical).

Okay, here's the issue. I'm not going to post the screen grabs because the watermark caused all conversions to become images instead of pdf to text. The images are too small to read on my Kindle 2 and have to be zoomed. If you can use CutePDF which does not put a huge watermark over the text, I could make proper conversions (it adds a line of text in the bottom margin).

Take a look at this thread. I converted a pdf of images and scientific calculations for use on Kindle 1. I can change the font size on this conversion and zoom images.

I followed up by converting those same pages with PDFRead on Kindle 2. I cannot change font size with this conversion.

How can I get the non-trial version? Is there another program I could use?

Here is the combined sample I made, you can see how the mark made by CutePDF does not impact the text.

I use the trial version. You don't need the full version.

When I use the trial version, it puts the watermark. How do I avoid that?

We're just doing a test of a few pages not the whole book so it's fine. The watermark you've been using has that big circle over the text, so it has to be rendered as an image. The CutePDF watermark is just text way at the bottom so the conversion will work properly.

When you're ready to make a real conversion you'll just use the original PDF which does not have a watermark.

I don't understand what you mean. The original PDF (which I converted) had no watermark. The watermark got added after conversion.

This watermark was created when by whatever software you used to make the sample pages and is causing the problem. Using a PDF printer driver is not converting the PDF. It's just allowing you to separate out a few sample pages.

It's okay to have a watermark but not one this big or of this type. CutePDF does not create a watermark like this. It just adds a line of text at the very bottom of the page out of the way of th rest of the text.

Why don't you go ahead and upload one of the original PDFs (not both). As soon as I download it, you can delete it (so we don't get into copyright problems). I'll send the file through Amazon for conversion and post a couple screen grabs of the results.

Quick question. Will the converted PDF have a table of contents to navigate on Kindle, or do you have to scroll pages to get where you want? How exactly does it work?

The round watermark is from print-driver.com which is not the same as CutePDF.com

This is the watermark CutePDF makes.

You can delete the file now. I'll let you know how the navigation works after it's converted.
