Content Server Running: Safe to Edit and Backup?

I'm getting close to the point where I'll be starting up a Calibre Content Server on my desktop. If the Content Server is running, is it safe to edit books in Calibre at the same time? How about backing up everything with Export? I'm just not sure if it there might be issues with the database (or parts of it) being locked while doing those things.

EDIT: And, while I'm at it, I normally do an rsync backup of all my user files. If Calibre is running while sitting in the System Tray, is that a bad idea? Should I shut it down, do the rsync backup and start it back up? Or, is it ok as long as I don't have a book open being edited (or being read)?

As long as your run the content server from within the calibre GUI it is safe. And no it is not safe to run rsync while calibre is running. You can likely get away with it if the rsync is one way but it is not guaranteed to be safe.

Yes. I'm running CCS from within the Calibre GUI.

I'll shut down Calibre before backing up with rsync. Thanks.
