Poetry Homer: The Odyssey V1.0 31.10. 2026

[Pilinstan]

There are already many translations of the Odyssey in the English language. And many will probably follow.
It therefore seemed like a good idea to me to present the two oldest translations, with which this seemingly endless series of translations began, here in a single ePub.

The oldest verse translation: George Chapman 1615;
The oldest prose translation: Theodore Alois Buckley 1853;

The first edition was deliberately chosen for both translations; which fact may pose a challenge for some readers here.
Well, so be it.
For those readers who are nonetheless interested: an effort has been made to make the text as readable as possible.
