Hello from Warrenton, VA
Hello fellow newbies, lurkers, posters, mentors, addicts and (especially true), fellow readers! I am a new member, looking to make a first purchase, and am blown away by the participation and passion of the "old-timers".
I have to admit, although I have learned quite a bit, I am also overwhelmed by the sheer volume of info and well-informed opinions here. Hopefully, I can internalize all the good stuff to be found here and can eventually end up making a good decision in a reader. Someday perhaps I can be one of those offering help as opposed to my current state - in need of help - and lots of it! And so I can continue to read and to research.

Run over to Borders at Warrenton Towne Center  and take a look at the Sony readers they have on display. I have the 700 and love it!

What can I say? I have the Sony 505 (*BLUE*), of course, and absolutely love it. It is sooooo simple to use and you can even download library books on it.  Quote:

I am local and I used to spend a lot of time at that Borders until I got my first reader!
 When choosing your reading device, don't be to concerned about the ebook format issue. There are ways to deal with that. If you are interested, check out the NoVA meet-up thread. RWood is hosting and we are looking at the weekend of June 27th. |

I'm NOVA inside the Beltway. BTW, we had a NOVA Meet Up last August. Good turn out and lots of fun.
And my 505 is blue which, frankly, is the only color |

@GraceKrispy, your hypnosis is more powerful than you realize. I decided on a Sony PRS-505, and set out to get a blue one. And ended up with a silver one...
