Good e-Reader Store Advisory
Just an advisory: don't be a great big dummy like me and order from the Good e-Reader Store.
I wanted a PocketBook Era Lite eReader. The only online shops I could find them at are Amazon and Good e-Reader Store. I deleted my Amazon account years ago, so I thought that I'd try the Good e-Reader Store. I purchased the device in very early September. Now nearly seven weeks later, I haven't heard nor received a thing. I consider the money both lost and a lesson learned. I wanted a 7"+ monochrome eReader that isn't Android-based, but I appear to be out of luck. Anyhoo, just wanted to advise anyone in case anyone else was looking at the shop. |

Unfortunately this is another story in a long line about poor business practices by that site. They have a poor reputation with most people who have kept up with the epaper industry. I don't know how they've managed to keep their industry connections for so long given their sales practices, reporting practices, and generally overall shady behavior.

Definitely contact your bank ASAP if you paid by credit/debit card. Use their review page on Trustpilot as evidence of their shady practices, on top of your own correspondence.

Considering how much traffic they command as an e-reader news site...it seems like a pretty shortsighted decision to tank their reputation like that in order to get a few quick bucks by inventory scamming.

Good E-Reader takes enough grief for their shoddy "news" reporting that this sort of thing would not surprise me. It's also possible that the store is operated by a completely different outsourced entity from the Blog. I've never known Good E-Reader to be concerned in the least with their reputation. It's always seemed like a "A bad reputation is better than no reputation" kind of site to me.
Why on earth would anyone be spending thousands of dollars (as indicated by several of those reviews) on devices at a site that's not backed by any reputable retailer? I get not wanting to buy from the likes of Amazon, but that doesn't mean throwing good money away on unvetted storefronts automatically makes more sense. On the other side are shops that, if you do some searching about cutomer experiences, have largely negative reviews. The Good E-Reader store seems to be one of these shops. If there's a shop I know nothing about I do some searching and this shop would be one I won't use. And then there are other shops that don't seem to like my browser (the latest Vivaldi) and will not even let me set up an account, even though I allowed JavaScript, cookies and changed the user agent. Well, I found the same device a little later sold by Amazon for the same price. |

What I don't get is wanting to use fly-by-night online stores with high prices and horrible reputations that are there for everyone to see if they only look. |

I have had some issues buying from Amazon. Only one of them was not able to put right in time. But this one issue is not enough to get me not to purchase from Amazon.

I hate not being able to talk to a human when the AI becomes dense.
I got notified an order got lost in transit and they were sending a replacement (2 day delay). 3 weeks later, the original shipment turns up (2 orders combined). I can't convince the Bot to allow me to send it back (I was not charged for that). The bot wanted to process 1 item at a time, then went circular on me. On the whole Amazon has been fine. I think some folk have issues with their Labor practices (8 hours pay for 8 hours of solid work). The ever taller Walled garden is my gripe and why Kobo get my custom |

The last ereader I bought was from goodereader, but that was many years ago. My impression was that they didn't really have much stock on hand. Instead, they would take your order and pass it on to someone else, probably taking a small commission. In my case, the order went to a Chinese company, and I had to wait for them to ship it overseas by container to North America before it got sent by courier. As is usual for cheap shipping, the exporter waits for their container to fill up before it gets put on a boat. It can take from a few days to a few months before the package sets sail. There is nothing really nefarious going on, but anyone expecting their package to arrive in a week or so might start thinking they've been ripped off when it doesn't show up and nobody tells them that it is sitting in a half-filled shipping container on another continent for some indeterminate amount of time. Maybe the OP is going through the same process.
