cool, I just wanted to confirm if this .100 is compatible with calibre versions embedding prior python version

A comment, just in case the plugin doesn't work for somebody at calibre 9. It looks like the change of python code in calibre has created a new folder inside the plugin folder "gr_author_notes-libs-py3.14" but it hasn't copied all the libraries. After copying the content from the previous one to this new folder, everything is working fine.

I have two folders: gr_author_notes-libs-py3.11 and gr_author_notes-libs-py3.14. I understand that what you're saying would be to copy the files from 3.11 to 3.14.

Attached version contains 2 fixes:

- packaging cleaned up: excluded unused .pyc files present in previous .100 version
- language code field: on Windows I was seeing an issue when typing the language code, and the typed input not being displayed.

tested on Windows, calibre 8 and 9

YOu're right. I don't explain myself right in Spanish, so you can guess that in English....

It has worked for me this morning.

The plugin works well but the problem is with the translation option - it's probably Google's fault.

Tried with various - es, sr, hr - same answer.

I tested here with 'pt' and it didn't work either. It works with english default. Something must have changed in google API. Or maybe it is blocking the plugin.

P.S.: No error msg in console, running calibre-debug.

I have installed the GR Author Notes 2 plugin also, and (if possible) I would like to have the author biographies in Dutch. Mine is also translating only in English.

How do I change them in 'nl' (Dutch), as I entered this iso country code in the plugin configuration?

Hello everyone. Since the original author hasn't responded in a while, I've prepared a corrected version of the plugin so that those who were having problems with the biography translation can try it out.

What's fixed

The translation is working again. Before, even if you chose Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Serbian, or another language, the biography remained in English and no error message appeared. Google had changed something, and the plugin wasn't aware of it. Now the biography is translated into the configured language.
The entire entry is translated. The biography, headings ("Born," "Gender," "Influences," etc.), and genres are all translated. If the biography mixes languages, for example, one paragraph in English and another in Spanish, each paragraph is translated correctly.
Links to books within the translated biography are preserved.
Social media names are not translated. For example, "Twitter" no longer appears as "Gorjeo," which was the Spanish version, and usernames remain the same.
The final summary is clearer. If an author wasn't processed, the window explains who and why. For example: "Not a Goodreads author, but their page has no biography or information." It also notifies you if a biography couldn't be translated because Google didn't respond.
Language variants such as pt-BR, pt-PT, or zh-TW can be used, in addition to the two-letter codes (es, nl, sr, hr, pt, etc.).

Things to keep in mind: The translation uses the free Google Translate service. If a large number of authors are processed consecutively, Google may temporarily slow down the requests. In that case, the biography is saved in the original language, and the summary will notify you. Simply try again later.
Italics and bold text are lost within a translated paragraph.
