Running into a few issues.
First, Ao3 stories are giving me the following error: (HTTP Error in FFF '403 Client Error: Forbidden for url: https://archiveofourown.gay/works/50...=true'(403)) Meanwhile, certain Spacebattles stories are asking for log in info, despite it being in the .ini. Even when I put the info in again, it keeps asking before finally giving the current error: (Failed to Login for URL: (https://forums.spacebattles.com/posts/13012612/) with username: (Nei)) And I'm also getting emails to verify my spacebattles login when that happens The only thing I changed in the .ini is putting in the log in info |

AO3 is blocking as often as not these days. The .gay thing doesn't help anymore. I just use Browser Cache all the time for it. I just tried that story and had a 'Shields Up' page pop up first, so I'm reasonably confident it's just general blocking. I got a similar page clicking that SB link, too. But in their case, they block all automated access to /posts/ URLs now, so we can't use /posts/ URLs as story URLs anymore. But because Reader mode is still working (for now), we can still use thread URLs. |

Is there a way to bypass this
"Browser Cache Failed to Load with error 'HTTP Error in FFF 'open_pages_in_browser_tries_limit exceeded for site (www.fanfiction.net), assuming site is off line until after next (Calibre) restart.'(428)" Because it's rather tedious for me to restart calibre each time downloading fics from ff.net and the running into this problem. Many thanks in advance. |

"Bypass" as in, manually reset the counter without restarting? Not as currently coded. "Bypass" as in, make FFF not do that as often? Yes. open_pages_in_browser_tries_limit is a setting that defaults to 6. You can set it higher in personal.ini. But if you are getting 6 failures in a row often because of Cloudflare delays, I suggest increasing slow_down_sleep_time to give more time between requests. Honestly, I put that in as a paranoia check. I didn't expect it come up except when you lose network or the site goes down during downloads. Is this something that's a common problem for people? |

Good morning. With update 4.62.0, it resolved any errors I was getting for almost a week. Then the morning of 10/9, I got errors like the following on every single update or download in FFF from AO3 that I tried to do. By Sunday 10/11, it was working mostly again. The past two days have again now given persistent errors whenever I try to either update a fic or bring in any new ones (either just works or series).
HTTPSConnectionPool(host='archiveofourown.org', port=443): Max retries exceeded with url: /works/2519108/navigate?view_adult=true (Caused by ReadTimeoutError("HTTPSConnectionPool(host='archiv eofourown.org', port=443): Read timed out. (read timeout=60.0)")) https://archiveofourown.org/works/2519108 or Failed getting login token from token_dispenser.json or HTTP Error in FFF '525 Server Error: <none> for url: https://archiveofourown.org/works/91...=true'(525) Is there anything new to work around this again? I've tried going back through the thread but am probably missing it. |

Is it possible to add the instructions to download a chapter range to the FAQ? I had to look up the instructions again when forgot.
EDIT: Also, was first/last_chapter removed? It was red in my personal.ini. Last edited by ownedbycats; Yesterday at 10:11 PM. |

first/last_chapter are technically undocumented development features. Although I suppose they've come up enough times now that they may as well become official.

Probably something like "how do I download only specific chapters?" and then the answer quoted here

Alpha Test Version Attached
2026-10-16 - Change how chapter metadata is stored in chapter files - Fix mark new/unnew works with preserved chapters - Update translations - Add first_chapter/last_chapter to valid settings list. - Fix numChapters for update_preserve_deleted_chapters Also allows for ${preserved_chapter_mark} in chapter_title_X_pattern settings now: Code:
chapter_title_def_pattern:${title} ${preserved_chapter_mark}
chapter_title_add_pattern:${number}. ${title} ${preserved_chapter_mark}
chapter_title_new_pattern:(new) ${title} ${preserved_chapter_mark}
chapter_title_addnew_pattern:${number}. (new) ${title} ${preserved_chapter_mark}
If you choose to test this, please make backups. And let me know if you have problems. |

Anyone having some weirdness with ao3??? I am literally having issues with a single story update, but no issues with anything else on ao3.
I got this when trying to update using cache: Error | Unknown | Unknown | HTTP Error in FFF 'Page not found or expired in Browser Cache (see FFF setting browser_cache_age_limit)'(428) URL:'https://archiveofourown.org/works/92686911?view_adult=true' The thing is, I literally just updated another Ao3 fic before and after this error, using and not using the cache method. |

Question: Is there a way to edit a specific chapter title with the personal.ini? I can just do it manually but would need to fix it with updates.
