Bookfusion development has continued apace, continues still, and great many of the issues and needs people (myself one) above mentioned that were operative in 2024, have been worked on: e.g. inline footnote functioning, agile annotation ability, and workable export formats. I've been a pretty happy subscriber all this time, and that's over and above my natural tendency to dislike all subscription software dev. The ebook cloud working across all the platforms, alone, would be worth it.

I decided to take another look at the landscape, it's been a while since I tried any new reader apps. I found Yomu and am very pleased with it. My needs are pretty simple compared to some of you - I never, ever, ever annotate, mark or save anything in an ebook. All I need is to be able to grab it from Calibre and read it and Yomu works extremely well for that. I've just been using the free version for a few days and it's been fantastic....although I keep hitting/tapping some sort of combination that jumps ahead a chapter. I need to figure out what that is so I can stop doing it. I'm going to keep using it a bit and assuming I haven't found anything too aggravating I'll buy it (huzzah for a one-time purchase!) and try out the syncing. It's not a major need for me but certainly I've found it handy when reading kindle books to be able to pull out a book while I'm waiting in line or for food.

I use Yomu Reader as well as it ticks most of the boxes for me!
- Simple and intuitive design without extra bloat (unlike Readest) - Has a lovely progress bar (unlike MapleRead) - Doesn’t crash on my ancient iPad (unlike Pocketbook) - Has an option to disable telemetry (unlike BookFusion) and doesn’t phone home when telemetry is disabled I just wish it had TTS support. The syncing seems to work fine but I only used it once out of curiosity as I never read in my iphone. It doesn’t sync with your the kindle app in any way or form if that’s what you are after. My plan is switching entirely to yomu....I don't need it to sync with the kindle app, and wouldn't expect that to even be possible. It would just be handy to be able to sync between the iphone and ipad apps.
