Still no monospace font?

Just want to ask if Kobo has included a monospace font on their ereaders yet?

I mean you can add your own fonts by creating a folder called font (if it not yet exist) and put ttf or otf fonts in that folder

Yes. I know I can add one to the device and/or embed one in the epubs. I'm just wondering if Kobo has included a default one yet.

Looking at my Sage, I see:

From my quick check around the internet, none of them look monospace to me.

If it's ePub, you need to put monospace font on the fonts directory. The font has be named courier as shown below and it also has to be named Courier in the font's metadata. So you'll need a font editor to edit the font's name in the metadata to Courier.

This is how you name the filename for the courier font.
Courier-Regular.ttf
Courier-Bold.ttf
Courier-BoldItalic.ttf
Courier-Italic.ttf

If it's KePub, you have to embed the monospace font.

Drat. I sure wish Kobo would include some kind (ANY kind) of default monospace font (just for a generic fallback). And, while I'm wishing, I guess a default cursive font might be nice.

Cursive is not a default font. So don't expect that.

CSS provides a system of fallbacks. You list the font that you want first, then any fonts that might fill in for the first if it is unavailable, and you should end the list with a generic font, of which there are five: serif, sans-serif, monospace, cursive and fantasy.
