Thanks, this is exactly what I needed!

One question: why is there a font included in pocket.zip?

Some image formats, like SVG, refer to a font and we have to provide one to ImageMagick in order to display text.

I did manage to get this working on my first attempt and I can now see some images in the blogs I've had pocket grab for me.

However it's definitely still missing some images and I'm wondering that since the first post hasn't been updated for a couple of years if I'm using out of date files.

Looking at it a bit more it seems to be gif that aren't being sorted

http://crpgaddict.blogspot.com/2010/...ltima-iii.html

Here's a blog that it doesn't work correctly on. I get none of the screenshots but I do get the picture of the manual page and the final picture of a map. They all seem to be gifs though. I have verified that they're proper compliant gifs.

My guess now is Magick isn't able to convert some of them and I can't work out why.

EDIT :

It's pocket to blame here. It is not grabbing all the images, nothing to do with the Kobo

I have that issue as well with some articles. Let us know if you find a workaround for this.

I think it's just simply down to how Pocket is coded to work. As far as I know there's no way to set it to be more aggressive in grabbing images?

I'm about to contact the blog author but it's not really their problem to fix

For what it’s worth, this utility works with the instructions in the first post for Instapaper articles too.

This still works well on my Clara BW, but I had some issues with transparency in PNGs getting set to black, so black text would be unreadable. I was able to fix this by adding "-alpha background" to the convert flags. So the whole line would would be

Code:
CONVERT="${POCKET}/magick convert -limit time 60 -font ${POCKET}/fonts/DejaVuSans.ttf -alpha background"

Thanks! Just curious: Would
Code:
-flatten
work in your case as well?

Hello!
Thanks for the inspiration!

I turned this into a nickelmod to save me from tapping the nickelmenu entry every time.
(Credits to Nico Verbruggen / Mr Silverstrike on the workflow)

Some QOL features were added to fix disappearing headlines in darkmode as well as missing language tag for hyphenation.

This looks interesting! Any idea if it works with 4.38 series of firmwares for the older gen devices?

I inspected the first firmware that ships instapaper (4.38.23429), all the necessary bits and pieces are present, so the mod should work there.

That's good to hear!

A feature suggestion I have would be for colour to grayscale conversion for images (or even dithered for that newspaper-like experience).
