Looking through the links on the book page:

It looks like Village of Eight Graves and The Little Sparrow Murders from the same series are also £0.99. I've read the first, and enjoyed it, but not got to the second, yet. Note that the translation order is not necessarily the same as the original publication order, which is also not necessarily the same as the internal chronology.

And The Decagon House Murders by Yukito Ayatsuji is also £0.99 at the moment, along with one of the later books in the series.

Decagon House is a strong recommendation from me. I wasn't such a fan of Mill House (not discounted), which I worked out early, and I haven't read the later books, yet.

The entire series has been priced at 99p at one time or another. She Walks at Night was the last to get (for me).

More than a year later, Now or Never: Thirty-one on the Run is on sale again, again £0.99 in the UK and $2.99 in the US. Also on sale this time at Kobo US. Links are still good. Probably in honor of the thirty-second book, Split Second: Thirty-Two Switcheroo, coming out in a few weeks. I'm not a huge Evanovich fan, but lots and lots of folks are...

These are both sketch publishers, so unless one finds a good deal from a known publisher which adds value through scholarly essays and annotations, I recommend other sources for works like this, such as standardebooks.org. It's probably posted here on mobileread's servers too.

Granted I don't know anything about abridged vs. unabridged for this title (although I can't imagine standardebooks would have an abridged version), so research!

The Thicket by Joe R. Lansdale is $3 in the US (Kobo, Amazon)
Western, Adapted to screen by netflix.

In a rip-roaring adventure set at the dark dawn of the East Texas oil boom, a young boy draws in two unlikely bounty hunters in his search for his sister.

“Reads like a dark version of The Adventures of Tom Sawyer **and feels like a Coen brothers movie.”****―**Houston Chronicle

**“The bard of East Texas is back.”****―**Booklist (starred review)

Jack Parker thought he'd already seen his fair share of tragedy. His grandmother was killed in a farm accident when he was barely five years old. His parents have just succumbed to the smallpox epidemic sweeping turn-of-the-century East Texas--orphaning him and his younger sister, Lula.

Then catastrophe strikes on the way to their uncle's farm, when a traveling group of bank-robbing bandits murder Jack's grandfather and kidnap his sister. With no elders left for miles, Jack must grow up fast and enlist a band of heroes the likes of which has never been seen if his sister stands any chance at survival. But the best he can come up with is a charismatic, bounty-hunting dwarf named Shorty, a grave-digging son of an ex-slave named Eustace, and a street-smart woman-for-hire named Jimmie Sue who's come into some very intimate knowledge about the bandits (and a few members of Jack's extended family to boot).

In the throes of being civilized, East Texas is still a wild, feral place. Oil wells spurt liquid money from the ground. But as Jack's about to find out, blood and redemption rule supreme.
