Broadcast Blues is the sixth and most recent (2024) in RG Belsky's Clare Carlson series. I had review copies of a couple of earlier books in this series and liked them both - the newsroom background felt realistic (hardly a surprise given the author was also a journalist) and the stories flowed along with good pace. Broadcast Blues is on sale for $0.99 right now in the US.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C1P6CP9M
Kobo US: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/broadcast-blues-1

Quote:
Wendy Kyle took secrets to her grave—now, Clare Carlson is digging them up

New York City has no shortage of crime, making for a busy schedule for TV newswoman Clare Carlson. But not all crimes are created equal, and when an explosive planted in a car detonates and kills a woman, Clare knows it'll be a huge story for her.

But it's not only about the story—Clare also wants justice for the victim, Wendy Kyle. Wendy had sparked controversy as an NYPD officer, ultimately getting kicked off the force after making sexual harassment allegations and getting into a physical altercation with her boss. Then, she started a private investigations business, catering to women who suspected their husbands of cheating. Undoubtedly, Wendy had angered many people with her work, so the list of her suspected murderers is seemingly endless.

Despite the daunting investigation, Clare dives in headfirst. As she digs deeper, she attracts the attention of many rich and powerful people who will stop at nothing to keep her from breaking the truth about the death of Wendy Kyle—and exposing their personal secrets that Wendy took to her grave.

Joffe presumably picked up Adrian Magson's Harry Tate series when they acquired Severn House, and now the first book in the series, Rogue Agent (originally published as Red Station) is free at Kindle US and UK. Probably just for a few more hours. These are a little thriller-ish for me, but I've read and liked some of his Inspector Rocco books.

Kindle US: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0GX321DPP
Kindle UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0GX321DPP

Spoiler:
Quote:
Strap yourself in for a roller-coaster ride in this first explosive Harry Tate thriller.

Please note this book was previously published as Red Station.

Forced into exile. His loyalties tested. MI5 officer Harry Tate turns rogue.

A routine stakeout goes wrong. Two civilians are shot dead. Harry is forced into exile to the Red Station: a remote outpost in the Balkans.

No explanations. No appeals. No way back.

But exile isn’t the end of it. Russian troops mass on the border. A deadly assassination team hones in on its target. Harry realizes this isn’t punishment. It’s a setup. He’s been placed exactly where someone wants him.

Surrounded by enemies. Outnumbered and on his own. But he’s not the kind of man who waits to be taken out.

He hits first. And he hits hard. Because one wrong move won’t just kill him.

It will start a war . . .

Oh, and if you like the freebie, and have a bit of patience, there will probably be a cheap omnibus out soon, if Joffe plays true to form.

Free again at Kindle UK, although I missed it and it has already gone back up in the US. And still with probably the worst cover I've ever seen. It looks like a bad zombie novel...

London Blue is the eighth and most recent (2025) in Emma Jameson's Lord and Lady Hetheridge series, all of whose titles revolve around "Blue" in some way. And also a couple of the books in her Jemima Jago series, and have liked all that I have read. Although I haven't read this one specifically, so if you want to skip the rest of the post, please do...

London Blue is on sale right now, both in the US and UK...

Kindle US, $0.99: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0DZW716VV
Kobo US, $0.99: https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/london-blue
Kindle UK, £0.77: https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DZW716VV
Kobo UK, £1.00, discountable: https://www.kobo.com/gb/en/ebook/london-blue

Spoiler:
Quote:
Lord & Lady Hetheridge are back in a thrilling new novel by New York Times Bestselling Author Emma Jameson.

When a hated instructor at England’s last ladies’ finishing school is found murdered, two things are missing—the dazzling London blue ring she always wore and the very finger it adorned.

Lady Hetheridge is back, and she's shaking up the high society scene! In Emma Jameson’s latest cozy mystery, DI Kate Hetheridge throws herself into a case that shatters the pristine image of a top English socialite.

When aging “Femininity for Our Time” guru Cathleen Maitland-Palmer is found dead, the scandalous truth behind her sparkling life is exposed: secret trysts, blackmail, and explosive betrayals hiding behind the polished door of her Kensington home.

Her fabulous career at Annabelle Carter, Britain’s last ladies’ finishing school, is also fiction. Her students hated her, the headmistress wanted her gone, and one of her colleagues poured hot tea on her lap during a faculty row. But this isn’t death by Darjeeling—the murder weapon is a powerful magnet.

Meanwhile, new dad Tony Hetheridge, determined to let his sixty-second birthday pass quietly as he recovers from a knee replacement, is pulled into a baffling cold case. Investigating the dark world of a fallen rock star and her brutalized bandmates leads him straight to Annabelle Carter—the very school under his wife’s scrutiny.

With a surprise party in the works, a worried DI Paul Bhar, and the ever-volatile Maura threatening young Henry’s newfound stability, the Hetheridges have their hands full. But one thing is certain—before this case is closed, London’s high society will never be the same.

London Blue is the thrilling eighth installment in Emma Jameson’s beloved Lord & Lady Hetheridge series. Murder, intrigue, and high-stakes secrets await—dive in today!

The Price You Pay by Nick Harkaway writing as Aidan Truhen is £2.3 in the UK (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
SOON TO BE ADAPTED FOR TELEVISION AS: KILL JACKIE, AN AMAZON PRIME ORIGINAL STARRING CATHERINE ZETA-JONES

Get mad, get even, get paid. What kind of loser stops at getting even?

Didi's dead. That's sad. Jack Price isn't sad, because Jack doesn't care about Didi. Jack is just angry, because if anyone was going to brutally murder his bad-tempered old neighbour, it was him.

But when Jack takes matters into his own hands, he gets a contract taken out on him by an internationally renowned terrorist organisation. Which frankly seems overkill. Jack's just your average high-class coke dealer, after all. On a level playing field against a team of professional killers, he wouldn't stand a chance.

But Jack Price doesn't play fair. And Jack Price is going to make these guys pay.

'The Price You Pay is brilliant, a latticework of barbed jokes and subtle observations and inventive misbehaviours, a high-end thriller, relentlessly knowing, relentlessly brutal. It reads like Martin Amis on mescaline' New York Times

The Winter of Frankie Machine by Don Winslow is £1 in the UK (Kobo, Amazon)
Quote:
Frank Machianno is the guy, a late-middle-aged ex-surf bum who runs a bait shack on the San Diego waterfront. That's when he's not juggling any of his other three part-time jobs or trying to get a quick set in on his long board. He's a beloved fixture of the community, a stand-up businessman, a devoted father to his daughter. Frank's also a hit man. Well, a retired hit man.

Back in the day, when he was one of the most feared members of the West Coast mob, he was known as Frankie Machine. Years ago, Frank consigned his mob ties to the past, which is where he wants them to stay. But a favour called in by the local boss is one Frank simply can't refuse, and before he knows it he's sucked back into the treacherous currents of his former life. Someone from his past wants him dead, and he has to figure out who, and why, and he has to do it fast. The problem is that the list of candidates is about the size of his local phone book and Frank's rapidly running out of time...

Robert McCammon Dark Fantastic Book Bundle over at Fanatical

$25 NZ dollars for 29 books, probably cheaper in your local currencies

I haven't seen this mentioned so not sure if its new or i am just really unobservant.

Before I buy it has anyone experience this author?, the tags for his writing are fantasy, horror Mystery, but reading the synopsis of a few of the books they read more like Paul Dohertys Historical murder mystery books .

If you missed this sale four years ago, all seven books are now on sale at Kindle UK for £1.99 each. Not on sale, but presumably price-matchable at Kobo UK, and not on sale in the US at all, at least so far. The link is still good...

Different bunches of Kate Sedley's Roger the Chapman books have been through more publishers than I can keep track of, especially with different publishers in the US and UK. They've variously been with Minotaur, Severn House, Canelo, and I'm probably forgetting some. And some of the later books have gone on sale a lot, as well as the first five books, since Canelo picked them up a few years ago. And Joffe has now picked up Severn House, so I'm imagining that there may be an omnibus or two coming in the future.

However, right now, there are some good deals not only on the early five, and some of the later books, but also on a few in the middle that seem to still be with Minotaur (The Saint John's Fern, The Weaver's Inheritance), that I haven't seen go on sale much, and don't have. Mostly prices are between $0.99 and $2.99 in the US, and £0.99 and £1.99 in the UK. And some are also discountable at Kobo, although a lot of them aren't available at Kobo. It's almost impossible to figure out what's on sale where between Kindle/Kobo and US/UK, so I'm just posting "Kate Sedley" links, because the vast majority of what she's written is this one series. And you can go hunting for yourself.

And also note that some of the publishers renumber the books to start with "1" for the first one they have, so if you want a real list in proper order, use SYKM: https://www.stopyourekillingme.com/S...dley_Kate.html
