FR: Remove recent files history
I'm using AppImage version and there is no way to remove history from the application GUI. Usually the clear option is located under the list itself so it would be easier to find for users.
For example see https://github.com/JakubMelka/PDF4QT UX design (screenshots attached) Last edited by shuvashish76; 10-06-2026 at 11:12 PM. |

~/.local/share/sigil-ebook/sigil/sigil_v6.ini I see but here the request is about having the option to clear from GUI.

The applications you use all have it? Most applications in general have it? I ask because being able to clear the recent list with a button in applications is pretty spotty in my experience. On both Linux and Windows. Last edited by DiapDealer; 10-07-2026 at 08:14 AM. |

I checked and of the last 23 applications I used that had a recent files list, 12 of them had a clear list option somewhere and 11 of them didn't. 15 of the applications have the ability to have multiple documents open simultaneously (LibreWriter, Notepad++, etc) while 8 will only operate on a single document/file. HxD Hex Editor is an example of one that has a 10 file recent list but no clear option.
Personally, as long as the list does not grow endlessly, a clear button is not something I can get excited over. |

I don't use too many apps but yes from what I'm using - all have it. LibreOffice, Kate, Okular, PDF4QT, GIMP, KeePassXC, Krita etc. Quote:
![]() Sure this is just a request, I'm not saying it should be on devs priority, rather very low priority feature request. Last edited by shuvashish76; 10-07-2026 at 10:53 PM. |

Again it is capped at 9 or 10 most recent entries. Not sure why this needs to be "cleared". If you try to open a file that has been moved, its entry in the recent files list is deleted.
But after the next release when we again open a new suggestions for improvements thread. Feel free to add it to that thread so that other users can see and comment on it. |
